Johnny Depp was seen smiling at Kate Moss' testimony during his defamation lawsuit against Amber Heard.

Depp is suing Heard over a 2018 op-ed that she wrote for The Washington Post in which she claimed to be 'a public figure representing domestic abuse'.

The highly publicised trial is expected to wrap up this week, with Moss taking to the stand to comment on an incident Heard alluded to earlier in the trial.

Previously, Heard had been describing an altercation between Depp and her sister Whitney Henriquez, in which she claimed her sister was 'in the line of fire' and 'trying to get Johnny to stop'.

Depp smiled in response to Moss' testimony.

During the incident, Heard said: "I just see my little sister with her back to the staircase and Johnny swings at her and I don't even wait," she said, adding: "In my head, I just instantly think of Kate Moss and the stairs and I swung at him."

The 'Kate Moss and stairs' reference follows previous testimony from Heard in Depp's defamation case against The Sun, in which she said: "He was about to push her down the stairs and the moment before that happened, I remembered information I had heard that he pushed a former girlfriend, I believe it was Kate Moss, down the stairs," as reported by the Independent.

Moss cleared this rumour up today (25 May), saying that she was never pushed by Depp and that she 'slid down the stairs' following a rainstorm while on holiday at the GoldenEye resort in Jamaica.

The trial is expected to wrap up this week.

Moss testified: "We were leaving the room, and Johnny left the room before I did and there had been a rainstorm and as I left the room, I slid down the stairs and I hurt my back.

"And I screamed because I didn't know what had happened to me and I was in pain.

"And he [Depp] came running back to help me and carried me to my room and got me medical attention."

Moss is then asked whether Depp pushed her, in any way, down the stairs during that day to which she replied: "No."

The supermodel is then asked whether Depp had ever pushed her down the stairs throughout the course of their relationship, with Moss saying: "No. He never pushed me, kicked me, or threw me down any stairs."

Depp could be seen smiling after the testimony and earlier in the case his legal team seemed to celebrate when Heard brought up Moss' name, giving them cause to call her to the stand.
