Aussie fans of KFC have been cheering after the company revealed its latest menu item.

You see, this new item contains no chicken. but looks and tastes pretty much like the Colonel's iconic Popcorn Chicken.

So without further ado, allow us to introduce you to KFC's new meat-free option.

They're coated in KFC's iconic Wicked Wings spice blend and come in that delicious bite-size we all know and love.

It's perfect for those vegetarians out there that miss a hangover junk food binge, or maybe just some folk that might be looking to try out some meat-free alternatives.

KFC's new faux-chicken bites are also accompanied by a brand-new Lime Ranch dipping sauce... so you’re getting spice, zest and crunch all in the one bite.

Sounds like a decent feed to us.

If you're particularly hungry then you'll now be able to pick up a Wicked Popcorn Bowl and combo.

KFC Australia spokesperson Sally Spriggs said that Australia's favourite chicken restaurant has been itching to serve up some meat-free option for a while now.

"We’re excited to serve up Wicked Popcorn - an innovative product that offers more choice on our menu," she said.

Spriggs added that KFC Australia is 'always looking to treat our fans with new products'.

To be honest, who doesn't love a bit of a treat now and then?

"We hope they’ll enjoy this meat-free option which offers that great KFC taste our fans know and love," she said.

However, there is some bad news - you can only get your greasy mitts on a box of Wicked Popcorn at select locations in NSW.

"South Coast locals should head down to KFC for the limited-time offer and try it while they can," she added.

The meat-free menu does go against what KFC founder the Colonel loved - chicken, to be clear - but we'll bet KFC lovers will be won over by the tangy sauce, spice, and crunch.

And if it isn't for you, it's only around for a limited of time.

Wicked Popcorn, the Wicked Popcorn Bowl and Wicked Popcorn Combo can be purchased from participating KFC restaurants and via the KFC App from Tuesday August 9 to Monday September 5.

Hit up the KFC website for more details on where you can get some meat-free chicken down your gullet.
