KFC Australia has brought back its iconic Popcorn Chicken Slab

Our prayers have been answered.

Lovers of the Colonel behold as KFC Australia is bringing back the cult favourite Popcorn Chicken Slab to menus for a limited time only.

After a two-year hiatus, the beloved food item will grace us with its presence once again to signify Christmas came a little early this year.

The KFC Popcorn Chicken Slab is a six-pack of bread rolls filled with everyone’s favourite Popcorn Chicken along with smokey barbeque sauce and extra tangy, tasty cheese for only $10.95.

My mouth is already drooling just thinking about it.

However, these heavenly dinner rolls will only return to mainland Australia, meaning Tasmania will miss out (our sincerest condolences).

KFC Australia CMO Sally Sprigs said in a statement: “We’re excited to announce that we’re finally bringing back The Slab to KFC restaurants across the country.

"After first introducing The Slab in 2020, the response from our fans was huge and we’ve had lots of people demanding its return.

“So, we’ve listened to our fans, and it’s now once again available across all our restaurants for everyone to enjoy – either with friends or if you’re game, all to yourself! Like all good things, not even The Slab can last forever, so get in quick because this encore tour won’t last forever.”

However, make sure you dash over to your nearest chain, as the item will only be available today (Tuesday, October 4) until October 31.

But for those with a slightly larger appetite, the Slab Feast, which comes with chicken tenders and chips, will also be available until the end of the spooky season.

As you can imagine, KFC enthusiasts were delighted ‘The Slab’ would return after its 2020 debut.

One person wrote via Facebook: “Our takeaway for the week is surely this.”

Another commented: “Omg I was only saying about this the other day please can we get one.”

A third person shared: “Every time i think of quitting, they just drag me back in.”

While another said: “Bad day to be saying no more takeaway.”

Honestly, we thank the food gods for answering our prayers. Hopefully, we’ll also see the return of the Crispy Strips someday soon.

Until then, grab a slab and kick your feet up, friends.
