Bar Introduces A 'Johnny Depp Shot' To Help Men Feeling Unsafe Who Discreetly Need Help

Similar to the Angel Shot, men are told to order this drink and the bar will escort them out or call the police.

A bar has gone viral on social media for introducing a drink to help men who might need help.

The unknown tavern has erected a sign stating that you can discreetly let staff know if you're in trouble if you order a shot named after Johnny Depp.

"Feeling unsafe or scared, just come to the bar and order a Johnny Depp shot," the sign says.

There are three versions of the shot and they will illicit different responses and actions from the bar staff.

If you order the Johnny Depp shot neat then you will get safely escorted out of the bar by an employee.

If you order it on the rocks then a bar staffer will call a taxi for you.

And if you get it with lime then the bar will call the police.

"We will handle things discreetly and without fuss," the sign says.

It's a take on the Angel Shot that has been designed to help women who might feel unsafe or uncomfortable because of other patrons.

TikTok user Benji Spears (@Benjispears) filmed a video on the social media site to raise awareness for the initiative.

"Angel shots are becoming more common and more known throughout all bars and it's being brought to bartenders' attention," he said.

"OK so an angel shot is key, it can save you or your best friend's life and it's something we should all know about."

The Angel Shot has been praised for giving women a subtle way of getting help in a sticky situation.

Now, the Johnny Depp shot is getting similar recognition for giving men an avenue to express that they need assistance.

One person wrote on Twitter: "Yes, everyone should be able to have access to help without alerting whoever they're with for safety. This is the dumbest possible thing they could've called it."

Another said: "This is awesome! Finally we are seeing equal help for male victims. Wish I had this so many times in my life."

A third added: "This is so incredible and why it's important that he stood up and we continue to spread awareness for the issues he brought to light."

The tavern likely called it the Johnny Depp shot after details of his relationship with Amber Heard were made public following their divorce and during his defamation case.

During the trial, Heard admitted to hitting Depp during their marriage.
