Amber Heard's courtroom loss against her ex-husband Johnny Depp has been described as 'sickening' by an abuse survivor.

Meghan, who spoke to Rolling Stone on the condition they only used her first name, recorded evidence of her ex-partner abusing her just like Amber Heard.

She said she did this thinking that 'if he killed me, there would be evidence'.

Like Heard, when she spoke out she was accused of defamation by her ex's lawyer who also tried to accuse her of having borderline personality disorder to discredit her.

"This case is my worst fear playing out on a public stage," Meghan told Rolling Stone.

"[It] tells me that [my ex] was right. If he chose to, he could destroy and humiliate me beyond repair."

After the verdict came in, Meghan said she was 'sickened'.

"This is a gag in the mouths of victims who were just beginning to speak," she said.

Meghan added: "I want to scream. I want to vomit. I want to tear down every courthouse brick by brick because there is no justice to be had in our system of laws. But when [Heard] wrote she felt the wrath of our culture, Depp took it as a personal challenge."

But Meghan isn't the only one left reeling by the verdict..

Another abuse survivor, who spoke to Rolling Stone on the condition of anonymity, said she was glad her own case didn't make it to court.

"I feel really glad to think my case didn’t go ahead. And stupid to think I could have won it," she said.

"Men always win."

Heard's own lawyer Elaine Bredehoft said that the outcome is a major setback for victims of domestic violence in an interview with TODAY.

"It's a horrible message ... this is a setback," Bredehoft said.

"Unless you pull out your phone and videotape your spouse beating you, you won't be believed."

Heard's lawyer also revealed what the Aquaman star said following the verdict.

Bredehoft said: "One of the first things she said was: 'I am so sorry to all those women out there. This is a setback. She feels the burden of that'."

After just a few days of deliberation, the jury reached its verdict in the defamation case between Johnny Depp and Amber Heard.

The jury unanimously found in favour of Johnny Depp, finding that what Amber Heard wrote in her op-ed piece for The Washington Post was defamatory, and awarded him $15 million ($AUD 20.6 million, £11.9 million) in damages. The jury awarded Heard $2 million ($AUD 2.7 million £1.5 million) in compensatory damages, finding that in her countersuit, Heard did not prove all elements of defamation.

Heard's lawyer said the Aquaman star intends to appeal her case.
