Mattel is releasing a Dr Jane Goodall Barbie doll in honour of the legendary British conservationist for all her work with wildlife.

You know you’ve made it when Barbie gives you the tick of approval.

Mattel will release the doll modelled after the primatologist ahead of World Chimpanzee Day, which will be 90 per cent made out of recycled plastic, according to PEOPLE.

Goodall told the outlet that she was absolutely ‘delighted’ by the honour and hopes her Barbie can ‘inspire’ little girls worldwide.

She hopes the partnership will prompt children to become more involved in protecting the planet and spark a new generation of eco-leaders.

While speaking with Good Morning America, she also called her collaboration with the toy company a ‘super idea’.

The Barbie doll comes with a cool pair of binoculars and even a chimpanzee doll, modelled after Greybeard - the first primate the Goodall studied.

As she revealed the new Barbie to her 1.1 million followers, many were elated with the recent collaboration as one person wrote: “So well deserved! First Barbie I am going to buy.”

Another commented: “Amazing! My girls are gonna love this & also it’s such an incredible inspiration.”

A third person wrote: “Jane was my childhood hero and I couldn’t wait to introduce my daughter to her! She’s 4, and has Jane books, and now a Jane Barbie coming in the mail.”

While another wrote: “I read National Geographic magazines stacked up in the storeroom as a kid. Jane Goodall is my childhood hero and I'm glad the world is coming to their senses.”

We can attest that a Jane Goodall Barbie sure beats Total Tattoo Barbie or Video Girl Barbie. Oh, you don’t remember them? Me neither.

Indy100 reports that Executive Vice President and Global Head of Barbie and Dolls at Mattel, Lisa McKnight, said that there should be more Barbies modelled after role models like Goodall.

She said: “We hope that this collection and homage to a groundbreaking pioneer for women in science and conservation inspires kids to learn more about green careers, how they can protect the planet, and act out sustainable stories through doll play.

“We know that sustainability is a top concern for future generations and we are proud to unveil our first sustainable Barbie Inspiring Women and Career of the Year Eco-Leadership team dolls.”
