Kim Kardashian Receives A Jar Of Marilyn Monroe's Hair After Wearing Her Iconic Dress

Kim Kardashian Receives A Jar Of Marilyn Monroe's Hair After Wearing Her Iconic Dress

Museum staff warned her that the gift would either be seen as 'very cool or very weird', but Kardashian was thrilled by the gesture.

Kim Kardashian has been gifted a lock of Marilyn Monroe's hair after wearing the Hollywood star's iconic 'Happy Birthday' dress to the 2022 Met Gala.

The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star was gifted the strange piece of American history from the Ripley's Believe It Or Not! museum, after they loaned her the famous frock for fashion's night of nights.

Ripley's captured the moment Kardashian was gifted the priceless item.

While museum staff warned the reality star that the surprise gift would either be seen as 'very cool or very weird', Kardashian was thrilled by the gesture.

"This is so special to me. Thank you so much," Kardashian gushed.

She added that 'this is sleeping with me every night...sorry babe', referring to boyfriend Pete Davidson who was off-camera.

Ripley's Believe It Or Not! sang the praises of the 41-year-old TV star for showing off the iconic dress to a whole new generation of fashion fans.

"We really appreciated her partnership and felt that she was a great partner with Ripley’s Believe It or Not! for us to be able to retell the Marilyn Monroe story to a new generation," Vice President of publishing and licensing for Ripley’s, Amanda Joiner, told Us Weekly.

"We have 25,000 exhibits in Ripley’s, and when we’re working with partners, we want to show them our quirky side as well — and so that was the gift that we chose to give to her."

The Ripley’s team also filled Kardashian's Met Gala dressing room with a trove of Marilyn Monroe and JFK memorabilia to help inspire her look.

The reality TV star rocked up to this year's event in the same dress the movie star wore throughout her famous performance for John F. Kennedy's 45th Birthday.

Monroe took to Madison Square Garden on May 19, 1962, just three months before her death.

Because it's a part of American history, no alterations were allowed and the mother-of-four had to put her body through its paces.

She told Vogue: “I would wear a sauna suit twice a day, run on the treadmill, completely cut out all sugar and all carbs, and just eat the cleanest veggies and protein."

She insists she didn't starve herself and was just very strict. When she tried on the dress a month later it fit like a glove again and she said she wanted 'to cry tears of joy when it went up'.

Incredibly, Kardashian wasn't allowed to even wear the dress for the whole of the Met Gala.

She was simply permitted to put it on (with gloves and no body makeup), walk the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art, climb the infamous stairs, take a few pictures, and then slip out of the dress.
