Kylie Jenner Gets Absolutely Roasted For Her Met Gala Look

Kylie Jenner Gets Absolutely Roasted For Her Met Gala Look

The reality star arrived in an off-white gown, which featured a ruffled skirt and a baseball cap with a veil by designer Virgil Abloh.

Kylie Jenner wore an off-white wedding gown to the Met Gala and she is getting absolutely slammed on social media for the look.

Fashion's night of nights attracted A-listers from across the globe to celebrate the Metropolitan Museum of Art's new exhibition 'In America: An Anthology of Fashion'.

The theme was Gilded Glamour and White Tie and it's safe to say that celebrities interpreted that in a variety of ways.

While some stars rolled up in the most exquisite pieces, others, like makeup mogul Kylie Jenner, went in a different direction.

The reality star arrived in an off-white gown, which featured a ruffled skirt and a baseball cap with a white veil, created by the late designer Virgil Abloh.

While Jenner offered a tribute to the late designer, users on Twitter didn’t take too kindly to her alternative wedding look.

One person said: “I’m so embarrassed for her this is her humbling moment.”

Another added: “It’s like an accident you can’t stop staring at.”

A third commented: “It looks like she got this dress on Amazon. I got a shirt from SHEIN that looks just like her top.”

You wouldn't be alone in wondering how this look adheres to the Met Gala's theme of Gilded Glamour.

Many have asked that important question and it seems like fashion powerhouse Vogue has the answer.

In an article on their site, they said: "It seems the star chose to honor the Met’s exhibition inside, which explores American fashion.

"Abloh, a true trailblazer, was known to subvert many looks with his cheeky logos and streetwear slant.

"By wearing a wedding gown to the Met—and making it youthful, graphic, and wholly unexpected—Jenner channeled the irreverent spirit that Abloh perfected throughout his career. It was a classy tribute to one of the greatest American talents in fashion."

Right. There you have it.

While the 24-year-old was mocked for her adventurous style, her sister Kim Kardashian paid homage to old Hollywood by wearing the same dress Marilyn Monroe wore when she sang ‘Happy Birthday’ to John F. Kennedy.

Kardashian told Vogue her idea for the dress was sparked by the previous Met Gala, where she wore a black ensemble by Balenciaga designer Demna Gvasalia.

“The idea really came to me after the gala in September last year. I thought to myself, what would I have done for the American theme if it had not been the Balenciaga look? What’s the most American thing you can think of? And that’s Marilyn Monroe,” she said.

The Kardashian-Jenner family graces the red carpet as news emerged they won their defamation lawsuit, filed against them by socialite and model Blac Chyna in 2017.

The Guardian reports Chyna attempted to sue the family in a US $108 million (AU $153 million) lawsuit claiming they tarnished her reputation, which destroyed her reality TV career.

However, a Los Angeles jury found that the Kardashian-Jenners weren’t guilty, with Chyna not rewarded any damages.
