A Current Affair's Tracy Grimshaw has taken Scott Morrison to town during a one-on-one interview about his leadership.

The Prime Minister has been in hot water for most of March for the way he's handled scandal after scandal at Parliament House.

Australia's political heartland has been rocked by allegations of rape, sexual misconduct, lewd behaviour, inappropriateness and it's sparked a national conversation about the way women are treated not only at Parliament, but around the country.

All eyes have been on Scott Morrison and some have criticised him for his comments on particular matters, his absence from a massive rally about toxic workplace cultures, and how he intends to fix all this.

After a few press conferences, the Prime Minister sat down with Ms Grimshaw to see if he can fix his image.

It did not go down well.

The veteran interviewer was shocked when Mr Morrison explained how he wasn't fully aware of the problem until a few weeks ago.

"Are you saying really that the enormity of this issue, that women deal with every single day, has only become apparent to you in the last month?" she asked.

He replied saying he was doing his best.

Tracy started to ask: "If you are saying you have been aware of the enormity of this issue preceding Brittany Higgins coming out a month ago..."

The Prime Minister interjected, saying: "At a different level. This has taken me deeper into this issue than I've appreciated before."

"Where have you been?" Grimshaw questioned.

Mr Morrison hit back with: "I think that's a bit unfair Tracy. Because I think there are many people across this country who...you lived with it everyday. You've lived with it, I'm sure you're whole life you have."

But the ACA interviewer went in with the kill shot with: "Women do. But you are not on an island, or maybe you are in a bubble. You must know, you have a wife, you have daughters, you have referenced them several times. How did you not know the depth of it?"

The Prime Minister tried to save face by saying the case of Brittany Higgins, a former Liberal staffer who alleged she was raped by a colleague in a MP's office, was a 'wake up call' for not just him but all of Parliament.

But Ms Grimshaw saved the best for last and said: "It hasn't been a wake-up call to 52 per cent of Australians."

Scott Morrison admits that this isn't his area of expertise but he's trying to work to understand what women go through on a day-to-day level.

"This is the difficult part of this. You understand it in a way that only you could. I have a different experience to yours as do many men in this country," he said.

"It was truly shocking that this could take place here [in Parliament House] to a young woman who had worked so hard.

"We look at these things and go 'how could such acts of [alleged] violence take place?'

"We are now starting to get beyond this issue where we see it most, in the most violent and other most obvious forms.

"I may not have always got it as much as people would like me to, but I assure you, I am doing everything I can to understand it as best I can."
