Woman Wants Valentine's Day Banned Because People Don't Stop Boasting About It

A woman has kicked off her campaign to get Valentine's Day banned.

Jodie Weston, who appeared on the British TV show Rich Kids Go Skint, believes February 14 is problematic for people who are single on the big day.

Loads of couples will be buying chocolate hearts, red roses and big teddy bears while organising cute dates or fun adventures to celebrate their love.

However, single people have to sit back and watch all their coupled friends post on social media how amazing it was to receive a bouquet of flowers at work.

Jodie feels like that's unfair and wants the whole charade cancelled for good.

Speaking to The Daily Star, the former reality TV star turned DJ said: "Valentine's Day is a time a lot of women look forward to so they can brag about what they have and make others feel inferior.

"For a lot of people it is their worst 24-hour long nightmare.

"Some use it as a chance to spread cruel memes all over the internet reminding singletons they are alone and don't have a special someone in their life, or that they will find out on Valentine's Day if they are being cheated on or not."

That's never fun to be ridiculed for being single, especially if it's a choice or an awful situation.

But singletons can use their freedom to head out on the town during Valentine's Day in the hope that other people similar to them might be looking for love.

Jodie added that her love life has been fairly intense over the last few years.

It certainly doesn't help that one of her exes was hanging with another woman while she was recovering from a visit to the hospital. Ouch.

She told the UK newspaper: "I've had men I loved steal from me, one ex left me on a holiday I paid for, I've had female friends try to turn boyfriends against me or exes try to turn new boyfriends against me, but I feel its all enabled me to resonate with pain and put my selfish desires to the side."

Jodie is calling on people around the world to be kind in the lead up to and on Valentine's Day because you never know what someone might be going through or what their dating history has been.

She also wants people to tone it down on social media.

"I'm really hoping that people take a second to consider the implications of showing off this Valentine's Day may have on others," she concluded.
