McDonald's has responded to the rumour that it will be serving all-day breakfast from next month.

The worst part of a hangover is, easily, missing the cut-off time for a Maccies breakfast.

So, as you can imagine, people were jumping for joy when they heard a rumour that the chain would start selling breakfast all day, from 6 October.

McDonald’s have announced they are serving breakfast ALL day from the 6th of October 😨😍 pic.twitter.com/n6SymtSmjU

The post started circulating on Twitter yesterday, 2 September, with big brands like Pretty Little Thing sharing the news.

The fast-Fashion company wrote: "McDonald’s have announced they are serving breakfast ALL day from the 6th of October."

It then shared a post along with the title: "Let There Be Breakfast: McDonald's Serving All Day Breakfast Starting Oct. 6."

The post told fans of the fast-food franchise: "Mark your calendars. McDonald's is making breakfast history again by offering All Day Breakfast nationwide starting October 6th, allowing customers to enjoy some of their breakfast favorites outside of traditional breakfast hours."

Naturally, people lost their s**t, with the post going on to add: "It's time for breakfast on your terms. 10:30am will no longer be the end of breakfast. Lunch, snack, dinner, late night - it's time for Hotcakes at whenever o'clock. The new limited menu will allow customers to enjoy a breakfast sandwich paired with an order of World Famous Fries after 10:30am."

Sorry guys, file this one under fake news 😬🤷 https://t.co/EIJIiuF5Fg

But, alas, it wasn't to be, with the company shutting down rumours yesterday, tweeting: "Sorry guys, file this one under fake news."

Turns out that the press release was actually an old one from the US, where McDonald's trialed all-day breakfast back in 2015.

The menu items were available for some time because a reduced menu was put in place during the pandemic.

All we want is hashbrowns.

McDonald's is currently operating with normal breakfast hours: 5am to 11am, with no plans to bring all-day breakfast back anytime soon.

People weren't exactly happy with the fake news being spread around, getting their hopes up.

They took to Twitter to air the frustration, with one user saying: "NOOO I WAS SO EXCITED FOR A SEC."

Another user made the astute observation: "The big clue is the fact breakfast cut-off hasn’t been 10:30 for ages…"

Others started trying to bargain for other breakfast items: "Can you at least bring back the breakfast wrap?"

A fourth user spoke from the heart, saying: "I just want hash browns to be available all day."

And, honestly, that's all we want, too.
