Petition Launched To “Bring Back The Sundae” To McDonald’s

"Bring back the Sundae. And stop trying to make the McFlurry happen. Not fetch".

"Bring back the Sundae. And stop trying to make the McFlurry happen. Not fetch". Those are the demands of a new petition launched by Sundae aficionado and sometime business owner and podcaster Andrea Horan.

Trips to McDonald’s haven't quite been the same since the summer of 2018 when the eurosaver ice-cream sundaes were formally axed from the franchise's menus. As with 99’s, the sundaes were staples of Irish summers and the McFlurry doesn't quite hit the same spot.

The petition, which has gained 645 signatures at the time of writing, argues that it’s unfair that Ireland seems singled out as the only country that a sundae is not available. It says “Ireland* seems to be the only place where McDonald's don't have delicious sundaes on the menu.

All across mainland Europe, America and further afield, the sundae remains on the menu. C'mon, we voted the way you wanted eventually on the Lisbon Treaty, surely that means we get the tasty goods our European pals get to enjoy?

*and the UK. But they have Brexit, so they've decided on having nothing delicious.”

The petition's author Andrea Horan also said “The Shamrock Shake is back this weekend, proof that things can make comebacks on the menu when required. The ice cream is already there.... there's no excuse.”

So, for those among us like me who are passionate about getting their cool-down fix this summer, you can sign the petition here. While the weather may be crap at the moment, those sunny summer days are closer than you think. What better way to enjoy them than with a refreshing and delicious McDonald’s Sundae!!??
