Baby donkey reunited with ‘distressed' mum that had been crying since being stolen

The adorable foal was snatched last month

An adorable baby donkey has been reunited with her mum after she was stolen by heartless thieves. I hope you’re ready to go ‘ahh’ because this is about to get seriously cute.

Two-month old foal Moon was snatched from her home on 15 May, leaving her owners seriously concerned for the little one’s welfare, not least because she hadn’t even been weaned from her mum yet. You can see the moment she was reunited with her owner here:

Following the theft, her heartbroken owners at Miller's Ark - a farm in Hook, Hampshire - launched a campaign to help find the 1ft 6ins donkey.

But last night (31 May) her owners were given the wonderful news that little Moon was safe and well - albeit more than 60 miles away in Buckinghamshire.

With the help of Thames Valley Police, her owners travelled to collect the baby donkey leading to a touching reunion with Miller’s Ark owner Elizabeth Miller.

In a sweet clip, a delighted Elizabeth can be seen cuddling little Moon as she repeatedly says, ‘look who’s back’ and ‘my baby’.

Relieved volunteer Pamela Jessop explained that Moon was discovered after a member of the public spotted her on land at a stable.

Moon was found following a tip off from a member of the public.

She said: “We are beyond ecstatic, we are trying to find the words but are very emotional. We are thrilled that Moon and mum are back together.

“It had been over two weeks, you don't give up hope but you think as the timeframe expands 'are we losing our window? Is she OK?'

“But, she was being looked after and she appears to be in good health.

“She was so happy to see us that her tail was swishing."

Moon’s theft hit headlines and captured the hearts of thousands of people who shared information in the hopes of getting her home.

In a post announcing her safe return, Miller’s Ark said: “Yesterday evening we travelled to Buckinghamshire, liaised with Thames Valley Police and have recovered little Moon.

"We are beyond thrilled and Mum and foal are finally back together. Moon appears to be in good health, thank heaven, and we will make sure that Moon and her mum Astra get lots of love and care as they rediscover each other."

Hampshire and Isle of White Constabulary said in a statement today (1 June): "Baby donkey Moon, just 12 weeks old, was stolen from Millers Ark Animals on Blackstock Lane some time before 5pm on Monday 15 May.

"Late last night Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary was contacted by the farm, who had been sent some information about Moon.

"We immediately deployed officers to an address on White House Lane in High Wycombe, Buckinghamshire.

"At around 8.15pm the stolen donkey was located, recovered and returned to the delight of the owners."
