Donald Trump Jr. has been slammed online for trying to flog t-shirts mocking Alec Baldwin after the tragic incident on the set of Rust that resulted in the death of Halyna Hutchins.

When the actor fired a prop gun on the set of the western movie on Friday, 42-year-old cinematographer Hutchins was killed and director Joel Souza was injured.

Baldwin has since released a statement in which he said his 'heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna'.

However, Trump Jr. - who has clashed with the 30 Rock star in the past - has been quick to make fun of Baldwin, flogging t-shirts on his website for $27.99 (£20.32).

On the t-shirts, there is a slogan that reads: "Guns don't kill people, Alec Baldwin kills people."

It's not exactly in the best taste, but - then again - his dad is former President Donald Trump, so how much can you really expect?

This isn't his only dig at the actor, just the one that he's trying to monetise.

In recent days he's been taking to social media in order to share a number of memes and posts about the incident, including one that showed Homer Simpson with a gun and read: "Let's all watch Alec Baldwin blame the gun."

Naturally - and correctly - people are pretty mad about this.

One person commented: "Donald Trump Jr sells T-shirts mocking Alec Baldwin set shooting... The apple does not fall far from the tree just like that b******d and loud mouth Traitor, a Trump friend or associate could have gotten on the lot and planted that live round in the gun."

Another said: "Donald Trump Jr is a low class, low talent, low IQ individual whose only claim to fame is his less intelligent insurrectionist father. How about a t-shirt that says that?"

A third wrote: "What kind degenerate reprehensible sc*umbag mocks actor Alec Baldwin & profits off the tragic accidental death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins?! Donald Trump Jr of course!"

Of course, Baldwin is clearly devastated after the incident and has expressed that through a statement that said: "There are no words to convey my shock and sadness regarding the tragic accident that took the life of Halyna Hutchins, a wife, mother, and deeply admired colleague of ours.

"I'm fully cooperating with the police investigation to address how this tragedy occurred and I am in touch with her husband, offering my support to him and his family.

"My heart is broken for her husband, their son, and all who knew and loved Halyna."

Obviously, the filming has since been suspended and will not resume 'until investigations are complete', if at all.

Baldwin has also reportedly cancelled other projects following the incident.

An affidavit since released included testimony from Souza, who said that they had been attempting to film Baldwin 'cross-drawing' the weapon before pointing it at the camera and discharging it.

He also said that Baldwin had been assured beforehand that the firearm was safe.

Cameraman Russell Reid also added that Baldwin had been 'very careful' with the weapon and tried to ensure safe use of the firearm on set.

No charges have yet been brought following the incident.
