Personal items belonging to wanted fugitive Brian Laundrie have been found in a park in Florida, according to multiple reports.

Video footage obtained by Fox News shows Laundrie's parents, Chris and Roberta, walking through the Myakkahatchee Creek Environmental Park this morning (Wednesday 20 October) with a law enforcement officer, who tells them 'something' might have been found.

The family's lawyer, Steven Bertolino, confirmed the discovery to Fox News, saying that the Laundries had informed law enforcement that they intended to search the park and met officers there.

In the footage, an officer can be heard saying to them: "I think we might have found something."

According to Fox News, the two parents were seen 'continually moving in and out of areas of the brush'.

They later discovered a 'white bag and a dark-coloured object after travelling through a patch of brambles at the edge of the brush at a clearing'.

The couple then put the object into the bag and handed it over to the law enforcement officer.

In a statement to the Daily Mail, Bertolino confirmed that officials are now conducting a more extensive search of the area.

He said: "After a brief search off a trail that Brian frequented some articles belonging to Brian were found.

"As of now law enforcement is conducting a more thorough investigation of that area."

Laundrie - who is a 'person of interest' in the homicide of late partner Gabby Petito - has been missing since 14 September, having told his parents that he was off for a solo hike around the Carlton Reserve.

He had previously been travelling with Petito, who was officially reported missing on 11 September after she did not respond to calls and texts - her body later discovered in Wyoming.

Her death has been classified as a homicide, with the coroner ruling that she died from strangulation.

There have been several suspected sightings of Laundrie in the weeks since he vanished, but none have so far come to anything.

In the search of the 25,000 acre Carlton Reserve, police have been using human-remains searching dogs to scour the alligator-ridden nature reserve for anything they can find that might help them understand what happened to Laundrie.
