A TikToker managed to track down a stranger who photobombed her in New York City three years ago, harnessing the power of social media to be reunited.

TikTok user Betsy Jasper (@malibu_betsy) had originally shared a video on the platform, explaining that she'd been looking through old photos from a trip when she stumbled upon an amusing background detail.

She wrote: "So I was scrolling through old photos and came across this guy who photobombed me in NYC. Anyone know who he is?"

It turned out that someone did know who the mysterious person was - in fact, the man himself came forward in the comments section.

A user called @fitonahmeti replied, saying: "That's me," adding two crying with laughter emojis.

Betsy wrote back to say: "Prove it."

And it looks like he did, as she's now shared an update to say that the two of them have now met up.

In her second video, Betsy said: "Three years ago I was photobombed in NYC by this guy. Wondered who he was for years.

"Posted this video on TikTok and found him. Thanks everyone for your help."

Speaking to LADbible, Betsy said she and her mystery photobomber - a man from Albania called Fiton - have not only met up since the revelation, they've also been hanging out on a weekly basis.

She said: "I was in NYC during the summer of 2017 for an internship with Veronica Beard when I was photobombed. I moved to NYC after graduating from college in 2019.

"Once people helped me find the photobomber we met, and we have seen each other close to weekly ever since!

"His name is Fiton - he's a model from Albania and he has been living in New York for about seven years.

"We're so happy to have met from this and are thankful to have started to get to know each other!"

The new video has racked up 1.6 million likes and a whopping 11.7 million views, along with thousands of comments.

"Y'all better get married now," one person wrote.

Someone else said: "This sounds like something straight out of a movie."

A third commented: "This right here. This is the content I'm here for."

A fourth added: "And that's how I met your mother..."
