A set of twins who look the spit of Ariana Grande say they receive threats from some of the singer's fans.

Students Mackenna and Taylor Patterson-Hall, from Ontario, Canada, have gained quite the online following, with an incredible 40,000 fans on TikTok.

The pair started posting on the app Musical.ly about five years ago, but it wasn't until 2019 that things really blew up for the 20-year-olds, who eventually began copying the popstar's style.

And it has since even led to them getting some brand deals on social.

However, it's not all been plain-sailing, with some of Ariana's fans accusing the pair of copying their idol.

But despite the abuse, they sisters say they try and rise above it and just enjoy themselves.

"We were fans of Ariana Grande for a really long time, but as we got older, we started really liking her style, " said Taylor.

"People have told us forever that we resemble her, but to this day, we still personally don't think we look like Ariana.

"We chose to start wearing her style as it's similar to our own - we like it just as much as she does.

"To keep up the look, we use self-tanner as we're naturally very fair. Since we wear our hair up in ponytail extensions, we need to give our hair a break several days a week to prevent damage.

"We maintain a healthy glow through diet and exercise."

And even though it can take a long time to keep the Ariana-inspired look going, the twins have no plans to stop.

Mackenna said: "We get a lot of mixed reactions to our look.

"Some people are very supportive and say that we inspire them to be confident, while others react very poorly.

"Some Ariana Grande fans give us a lot of hate for being inspired by her style. They send us death threats and try to tell us there's something wrong with us.

"We don't understand why people are so toxic when it comes to Ariana Grande. How we choose to dress and do our makeup doesn't hurt anyone, and it isn't anyone's right to tell us what we can and can't do.

"We don't take any hurtful comments to heart, as we know who we are.

"Since going public with our look, we have gotten more attention. We've worked with several brands, including two of our favourite hair extension brands.

"Our relationship hasn't changed since choosing to be inspired by Ariana.

"We've always been super close to each other and we've always dressed the same - our style has just changed."
