A property in Yorkshire has gone on the market with a price of just £1. That's right - a house could be yours for a quid.
It looks like a three-bedroomed house, but if you actually look inside the Thornaby building you'll find that it's actually a fully-fledged hairdresser's.
The terraced house was once a salon and it's been perfectly preserved for the last 20 years. It's like stepping back in time once you're through the door, and it comes complete with old style freestanding hairdryer booths, and has customer seating and pictures of old-fashioned hairstyles on the walls.
The wallpaper is in a vintage flocked print and all the mirrors are all in place - it's as if it could be opened tomorrow.

The property is on the market as a three-bedroom house and it has double-glazed windows, but according to the auctioneer, it needs some 'modernisation'. I think that's putting it lightly...
On the website it says it's a 'mid-terraced property, standing flush to the pavement'.
The property has a reception on the ground floor, where the salon used to run, as well as a working kitchen. This must have been where the staff had their breaks in the past. It has a free-standing cooker as well as wooden walls - all very old school.
It also has a bathroom up on the first floor, with the classic avocado coloured bath suite that everyone's Nan had, as well as another toilet outside. There's also a back yard, meaning it's easily convertible into a house.

The property hasn't been on the market for at least 20 years but has gone up for public auction. Buyers won't be able to look around the place much before making a bid though, as it's only available for external viewings.
If you fancy your chances, the auction is set to take place on 27 February at Holte Suite, Aston Villa FC, Trinity Rd, Birmingham B6 6HE.
If you don't want to take on such a big task, your only other option to get on the property market is to do it the hard way and save up for a mortgage deposit.
A pair of young homeowners shared the secret of how they managed to save up £13,000 and buy their own house in just six months.

To be quite honest, it's not actually that much of a secret. Most of it is living incredibly frugally, sofa-surfing at the homes of friends and family, and taking advantage of the government's Help to Buy scheme, which allows young people to get a five percent mortgage.
However, to own a house aged just 19 and 20 takes some doing. It's an impressive feat, no doubt.
