YouPorn has pledged $100,000 (£79,708) to the Canadian government to install 'glory holes' to provide people with 'a safe option for engaging in sexual activity'.

It comes as the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) suggested they might be a good way for people to enjoy themselves sexually while protecting from coronavirus.

According to the BCCDC, the best love is self love, which means avoiding face to face contact with your significant other, unless they live with you.

Well, following the advice, the folks over at YouPorn were quick off the mark to offer their full support in erecting glory holes to allow people to blow off some steam but stay safe at the same time.

A health body in Canada has suggested 'glory holes' as a good way of keeping safe.

In a letter reportedly sent by the company to British Columbia's Minister of Health - Adrian Dix - YouPorn Vice President Charlie Hughes said: "At YouPorn, we highly value the importance of considerate sexual exploration and release in our daily lives, even more so during Covid-19.

"We applaud the BCCDC's guide for its recommendation of the use of glory holes during intercourse to limit face-to-face contact during sex, in the name of safety.

"To help provide people with a safe option for engaging in sexual activity, we would like to offer the province of British Columbia a grant of $100K to support the building of glory holes across the province.

"Hope to see you on the other side!"

I guess we'll have to wait and see whether or not they're taken up on their offer.

As part of the advice given by the BCCDC, specialist offered a whole host of ways for people to keep sexually active but also minimise the risk of catching the deadly disease.

One of them was via virtual sex.

The body says: "Sex can be very important for mental, social and physical well-being; it is a part of everyday life. People can, will and should continue to have sex during the Covid-19 pandemic.

"Video dates, phone chats, sexting, online chat rooms and group cam rooms are ways to engage in sexual activity with no chance of spreading Covid-19."

The BCCD also urged people who are engaging in any sexual activity to maintain high levels of hygiene, such as by making sure your hands are always clean, washing sex toys thoroughly and not sharing them, using sexual positions that limit face-to-face contact, and never having sex if you are feeling unwell.
