Next James Bond film will be the first ever where he serves a king

James Bond's next movie will be the first time he's not acting on Her Majesty's secret service.

The next James Bond film will be the first time ever that the character is serving a king rather than a queen.

Throughout the life of the world's most famous secret agent on the big screen Bond has always been acting on Her Majesty's secret service.

With her 70 years on the throne making her the longest reigning British monarch, many Brits have not known any head of state beyond the Queen, including 007 himself.

The first James Bond novel, Casino Royale, came in 1953 the year after Elizabeth became Queen, and since then he's gone onto a glittering career with one of the longest running film franchises of all time.

Only Godzilla has enjoyed a longer career as a movie star than James Bond, and as far as we can tell he was never employed as a secret agent for the Queen, although maybe that just makes him very good at his job.

Bond's latest movie No Time To Die released late last year and brought an end to the run of Daniel Craig in the role, so whoever the next 007 is, it might be a while before we get to see them in action.

With King Charles III now on the throne and William next in the line of succession, it's highly unlikely that James Bond is going to be serving a queen again any time soon.

That is of course unless they decide to take the franchise back into the past, with Bond bosses promising that the next 007 will be a 'reinvention' of the character.

Lots of fans are wondering who the next Bond will be, though no actor has yet been cast to replace Craig in the role and producer Barbara Broccoli has said work on the next film is 'at least two years away'.

The Queen appeared alongside Daniel Craig's James Bond for the 2012 Olympics.

Of course, the Queen herself famously became a Bond girl during the opening ceremony to the 2012 Olympic Games held in London.

The ceremony featured a where James Bond (Daniel Craig) went to Buckingham Palace to accompany the Queen to the Olympic Stadium, where they (and definitely not a pair of stunt actors) jumped out of a helicopter and parachuted in.

It was later revealed that the Queen only agreed to play the scene as long as none of her family knew about it, and it was so secretive that the government didn't even know it was happening.

Craig remembered that the Queen once joked 'oh no, he's the one that doesn't smile' while they were having their picture taken together.
