A nursing home has apologised following a particular extra-curricular activity they had arranged for the residents. Take a look below at what staff members have since announced they are 'very sorry' for:

The Taoyuan Veterans Home in Taiwan had enlisted the services of an adult entertainer to put on a show for the seniors - many of which were in wheelchairs.

The nursing home has explained their choice to hire a stripper for the residents was to celebrate Mid-Autumn Festival.

The Mid-Autumn Festival, also known as the Moon Festival, is a traditional festival celebrated in Chinese culture which celebrates the wheat and rice harvests of the season.

The footage was filmed by an attendee and uploaded to social media - quickly gaining a viral status online.

The nursing home says they are 'very sorry' for the ordeal.

The video begins with the adult entertainer laying down on the floor in front of a senior before straddling the air.

She then stands up and commences a lap dance on the resident - who was parked in his wheelchair.

A chorus of clapping and encouragement from staff members can be heard over the music playing in the background.

The dancer begins to bounce up and down in front of the old man just before he squeezes her breasts - resulting in an eruption of laughter and cheers from the small crowd.

Whilst laughing, the exotic performer then ended the lap dance and kissed the pensioner on the top of his head.

Some of the seniors seem to be enjoying the show as they clap and cheer along.

After going viral for the clip, the state-run facility for retired army personnel came under fire and subsequently released an apologetic statement on the matter.

It read: “The intention of the event was to entertain residents and make them happy. We are very sorry for the offence that was caused."

The spokesperson for the facility also said that certain moves from the dancer were 'too enthusiastic and fiery' and that they would need to be 'more cautious' when planning future events.

Hundreds since took to Facebook to share their views on the matter.

One Facebook user defended the nursing home's decision: "God forbid these men get one last interaction with a scantily-clad woman before their quickly-approaching demise."

Another echoed the defence, bringing attention to the residents' apparent enjoyment during the show: "Don’t know, Grandpa seems to be enjoying himself. It also seems that everyone else was clapping their hands. I say, let them enjoy themselves."

However, others were quick to call the situation inappropriate.

One person wrote: "Really! Why would they think that something like this would be appropriate for everyone in this audience?"

"This is stupid and ridiculous. How about treating them well and with dignity, respect and honour," argued a fourth.
