Pervez Musharraf is the former president of Pakistan. In 1999 there was a military coup d’état, which occurred hours after the then-Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif fired a powerful army chief. At the time, Pervez Musharra was serving as a military officer, and after the success of the military coup, he took control of the country. Musharraf remained the president for seven years, between 2001 and 2008.

Born in New Delhi, Musharraf moved with his family to Karachi (the largest city in Pakistan) in 1947. This was the year of the Partition, whereby India – which had been ruled by the British Empire – was divided into India and Pakistan.

What is Pervez Musharraf’s Net Worth?

As of 2022, Pervez Musharraf has an estimated net worth of $2 million (approximately £1,650,000), according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Musharraf has lived in Dubai since 2016. He moved there once Pakistan’s Supreme Court lifted their ban and allowed him to travel in order to seek medical care. The original ban was put in place after Musharraf had been sentenced to the death penalty for treason – a sentence which was later annulled.

In recent weeks, Musharraf’s health has taken a critical turn. Now 78 years old, he suffers from amyloidosis, a rare condition that causes ‘a build-up of an abnormal protein called amyloid in organs and tissues throughout the body.’

Over the last week, there have been many reports that Musharraf has, in fact, passed away. In response, his family took to Twitter earlier this week to set the record straight. The family denied the statements that Musharraf is on a ventilator, but confirmed that he has been hospitalised. In their Tweet they said that he is ‘going through a difficult stage where recovery is not possible and organs are malfunctioning.’

The family, speaking through Pervez’s official Twitter account, also asked their followers to pray that he find ‘ease in his daily living.’
