Postman That Left Pensioner In Snow After Doorstep Fall Sacked By Royal Mail

Postman That Left Pensioner In Snow After Doorstep Fall Sacked By Royal Mail

The postman said he was too tired to help and has now been sacked by Royal Mail

A postman who left an elderly woman in the snow after falling from her doorstep has been sacked by Royal Mail. Watch the shocking footage below:

The man, who told the OAP that he was too tired to help, ignored Patricia Stewart's request to help her back up off her steps in Falkirk last February.

The footage was captured by the 72-year-old's neighbour on their camera doorbell.

As she asks for help, the postman replies: “I can’t help pal, I’m knackered.

"Absolutely knackered."

The postman didn't appear to call for help as old woman fell outside her house during freezing conditions.

A Royal Mail spokesman said: "We can confirm that the individual concerned has left the business.

"We are sorry for the distress this incident has caused."

At the time of the incident, the British courier company added: "Royal Mail expects the highest standards of behaviour from our people while out on deliveries and collections at all times.

"We regularly remind our postmen and postwomen of the important role they play in their local communities.

"We were very sorry to learn about this incident, and for the distress this incident has caused.

"We have been in touch with the customer concerned to apologise and to inform them we are investigating this incident."

Patricia told the Daily Record: "The postman had just delivered two very small parcels for me and he had left them on the step.

"When I went to get them I felt a bit dizzy and I just went down from the top step.

"The postman was walking away so he didn't see the fall but I shouted for help and I asked if he could help me get up.

"But he just said he was knackered and walked off and left me there lying in snow.

"I was lying there for a wee while, I was absolutely soaking wet and freezing."

Niece Sheryl Harkins, who shared the footage online, told the publication: "When I got told about the situation I though there must be something not right here, there must be a misunderstanding.

"It wasn't until the neighbour sent the video footage and I saw and heard it that I realised - it beggars belief. I'm so disgusted.

"Thankfully my aunt's okay and she was found not long after, because it could have been a much more serious situation."

Patricia reportedly lay on the ground for 20 minutes before she was found by a Hermes delivery driver.
