Prince Harry has accused his brother William of physically attacking him during an argument about Meghan Markle.

The details of the fight have been revealed in the Duke of Sussex's book Spare, which The Guardian was able to get a sneak peek of ahead of its launch on January 10.

The alleged confrontation happened in 2019 at Harry's London home after William apparently called Meghan 'difficult', 'rude' and 'abrasive'.

The younger brother slammed the Prince of Wales for 'parrot[ing] the press narrative' that had been building against his wife.

The Duke of Sussex says the two then got into a shouting match before Harry accused William of acting like an heir to the British throne rather than a brother.

Harry's memoir title apparently comes from a saying from the upper echelons of British society where the first born is guaranteed 'power and fortune', as The Guardian says, while the following children are considered to be spares.

Prince Harry wrote that William said he was only trying to help and he replied: “Are you serious? Help me? Sorry – is that what you call this? Helping me?”

The pair moved into the kitchen and Harry says he gave his brother a drink of water and said he can't speak to William when he's angry.

The Duke of Sussex writes in Spare: "He set down the water, called me another name, then came at me.

"It all happened so fast. So very fast.

"He grabbed me by the collar, ripping my necklace, and he knocked me to the floor.

"I landed on the dog’s bowl, which cracked under my back, the pieces cutting into me. I lay there for a moment, dazed, then got to my feet and told him to get out.”

Harry says the melee caused 'scrapes and bruises' on his back and when Meghan saw them she wasn't angry or surprised but was 'terribly sad' instead.

The revelation, which will no doubt be one of many contained within the pages of Spare, likely won't go down well for Prince Harry's already fractured relationship with the British Royal Family.

Harry and Meghan have been open and honest about their interactions with The Firm in a tell-all interview with Oprah Winfrey as well as in their recently released Netflix series.

Prince Harry recently revealed how desperate he is to mend ties with his family, telling ITV: “I would like to get my father back, I would like to have my brother back.”

LADbible has contacted Prince William for comment.
