Pub landlady responds to sign saying kids 'will be given Red Bull and taught to swear'

Pub landlady responds to sign saying kids 'will be given Red Bull and taught to swear'

Jo Hunt says punters love the tongue-in-cheek sign at her pub

Pubs are places where you go to unwind, relax, forget about your troubles, and dare I say it, have a laugh.

Well, one landlady who tried to bring a smile to the faces of the locals has now spoken out after a sign she put up in her pub went viral.

Jo Hunt runs the Heys Inn in Lancashire, and recently decided to have a bit of a joke with her punters.

Now, if you've got kids yourself, you'll know that sugar and caffeine are the enemy, and should be avoided at all costs.

That is unless you want your little ones bouncing off the walls.

The pub landlady says she was just trying to have a bit of fun.

So, making light of this fact, mum-of-four Jo put out a sign in her 'dog-friendly and child-tolerant' boozer, which warned parents to make sure they're keeping a close eye on their children at all times.

Otherwise, she said, they could end up learning a few bad habits... as often happens in pubs.

"Unattended children will be given Red Bull and taught to swear," the sign read.

Joe said that the tongue-in-cheek sign has gone down well with locals, and if anyone has a problem with it, they can 'bugger' off.

Speaking to Lancs Live, she said: "It's obviously just a joke.

"We have four children ourselves, ranging in age from 10 right down to 16 weeks, and we always joke that we are dog-friendly and child-tolerant.

"All the locals had a giggle about it. If anyone takes it seriously, then bugger them!"

Punters at Heys Inn have loved the sign.

And by the looks of the pub's Facebook page, the majority of people have definitely seen the funny side of it.

"Fantastic pub... and great sense of humour," wrote one.

Another commented: "I love that sign."

"Never fail to make me laugh, Jo... outstanding," put a third, while someone else added: "Love it."

But while they don't bring their own children into the pub themselves, Joe said they did come in briefly over the festive period.

She said: "We had them singing karaoke on Christmas Eve but it's rare for them to be in the pub."

We need more landladies like Jo in the world.
