Many Brits are feeling 'cheated' after not receiving the 'Armageddon alarm' that was sent to millions of UK phones.

To be honest, with the fright it has just given me, I wish I was one of the lucky ones not to get the alarm.

The alert, which sounded for millions of Brits at 3pm today (23 April), is a wider security system as part of the UK Government Resilience Framework which is designed to warn the public if there is a 'danger to life' nearby.

Many jumped out of their seats following a distinct loud sound and vibration on their phones that lasted for 10 seconds.

It's a newly-launched service that was first pushed by the Labour Party in 2013, which will 'warn you if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby'.

The alarm terrified many Brits earlier today.

The system already exists in other countries, including the US and Canada, and this test will help pave the way for the system to be introduced in the UK.

The message received by thousands today read: "This is a test of Emergency Alerts, a new UK government service that will warn you if there's a life-threatening emergency nearby.

"In a real emergency, follow the instructions in the alert to keep yourself and others safe. Visit gov.uk/alerts for more information.

"This is a test. You do not need to take any action."

Following the light and sound of the alarm, phone owners would also have received details of the emergency at hand alongside advice on what to do and how to get help.

Prior to the alarm, the new UK Deputy Prime Minister Oliver Dowden has assured people they can simply 'swipe away' or press OK on the notification.

Well, it appears that some did not even hear the alarm, with many flocking to social media to discuss it.

"Huh... I didn't get the screeching phone alarm. Well if a nuke goes off least i won't know about it," one Twitter user wrote.

A second added: "Fact I didn’t get that alarm is a bit concerning."

Meanwhile, a third wrote: "All that build up and so many people didn’t get the alarm."

It appears that many Three Customers did not hear the alarm.

"Three phones no alarm received. Quite alarming really," one person wrote.

Speaking to LADbible, a Three spokesperson said: “We are aware that a number of customers have not received the test alert. We are working closely with the government to understand why and ensure it doesn't happen when the system is in use.”
