Rishi Sunak ridiculed for answer after being asked what his favourite McDonald's meal is

Rishi Sunak ridiculed for answer after being asked what his favourite McDonald's meal is

The ex-Chancellor has been made a figure of fun for his failure to name a McDonalds meal that's actually on the menu.

Rishi Sunak is not exactly having the best of times right now, with his biggest problem perhaps being that he could lose the race to be Britain's next prime minister to Liz 'Pork Markets' Truss.

He's losing to someone who somehow gave a worse answer than Theresa May's famous 'fields of wheat' to the question of the naughtiest thing she's ever done.

In an attempt to stop the Tory leadership race from getting beyond him, Sunak is trying to sell himself as a man of the people who likes a good Maccies as much as the next voter.

However, when describing his go-to order he made a big mistake. Watch below:

It was always going to be an uphill struggle, considering he recently admitted he had to be taught how to pay for things with contactless after being spotted earlier this year utterly failing to buy a can of Coke.

Sadly for Sunak, he appears to have made a bit of a blunder after being caught out naming his favourite McDonald's menu item as something they don't actually sell.

Appearing on This Morning, the former chancellor was asked what his favourite thing at McDonald's is, and he said when he takes his daughters there he likes to go for the breakfast wrap.

A lot of people quickly picked up on the slight issue that McDonald's don't make that anymore, and haven't done for at least a couple of years now.

Sunak ended up getting ridiculed on social media as lots of people said he 'hasn't got a clue' what he's talking about.

Others wondered why Sunak didn't just say he didn't go to McDonald's very much as it wouldn't be hard to believe that one of the richest people in the UK doesn't go for a Maccies all that often.

However, more people said they didn't really care what Sunak had to say about McDonald's as they wanted to hear his plan to deal with the looming issue that 'lots of old people are going to f***ing freeze in three months'.

Another asked why the interview ended on 'farcical f***wittery' when he could have been asked any number of more important things.

Poking fun at someone for not knowing his favourite McDonald's thing hasn't been a thing for a couple of years is all well and good, but there's a massive cost of living crisis going on and it's only going to get worse.

In the end, dealing with the swiftly approaching problems like the October hike in energy bills, which over 100,000 people have said they won't pay, is going to be a job for either Sunak or Truss, even if most people won't get any say in which of them it is.

As for Sunak's McDonald's pick being something off menu for a couple of years, his representatives said the reason was because 'Rishi has barely seen his kids in the last two and half years' leaving him with 'almost no opportunity to share a McDonald's with them'.

Sunak's representatives also said he was hoping McDonald's would bring back the breakfast wrap at some point.
