A Russian beauty queen was left unable to close her eyes or smile because of her plastic surgery, and now claims she was ‘disfigured’ after the procedures. You can see her demonstrate the alleged consequences of the surgery below:

Yulia Tarasevich, 43, underwent a number of surgeries in Krasnodar which left her face swollen and inflamed, including a facelift, a blepharoplasty – surgery on her eyelids – and mini-liposuctions.

Now, the runner up of the Miss Russia International pageant from two years ago has filed criminal charges.

She said: “I came to them with a beautiful healthy face.

“I just wanted to correct some nuances caused by ageing. But sadly, I lost my health.”

Despite her claims, those who performed the surgery on her say that it was a rare genetic defect that caused her issues.

Yulia told Russia’s Channel 1: “I have scars that formed in my cheeks when they ripped out all my tissue.

“My eyes don't close, and I can't smile.

“I can't lift my upper lip, and one part of my face doesn't work at all."

“I went quietly to the operation, firstly, because all my tests were in order.

“Secondly, because I had plastic surgery before this, I did rhinoplasty, and it went perfectly for me, without any genetic abnormalities.”

The beauty queen says that she has spent £20,000 ($27,000) trying to get back what she lost from the surgeries, and she’s going to pay for more surgery.

Yulia claims she had to undergo another procedure that helped save her eyes from necrosis.

However, her surgeons – Andrey Komarov and Omar Khaled – claim that a rare genetic condition called Scleroderma meant it was impossible to predict what would happen to her.

The condition leaves patients with hard skin and can cause problems with internal organs as the victim’s immune system attacks their under-skin tissue, but there is no evidence thus far that Yulia was suffering with it.

She claims malpractice, stating: “The surgeons made me the only one guilty for what has happened.

“The doctors who disfigured my face relieved themselves of all responsibility.

“I decided to have my day in court.”

Dr Khaled claims the case has been ‘exaggerated’, but – according to the Russian Investigative Committee – he and Dr Komarov are under investigation for breaking laws on ‘the safety of life and health’.

A spokesperson for the committee said: “A forensic medical examination has been appointed to determine the severity of the harm to health, and other patients who could have suffered from poor-quality services in this clinic are also being identified.

“The investigation of the criminal case is ongoing.”
