Russian troops are reportedly switching their allegiances and fighting for Ukraine against Putin’s invasion of the Eastern European country.

According to the Ukraine Defence Ministry, detained Russian soldiers are volunteering to join Ukraine’s army - with troops joining a division of the army now called the ‘Freedom of Russia’ legion.

A video posted on the Telegram app shows a Russian soldier saying he is now uniting in the fight.

The footage also reveals how commanders of this legion visit disgruntled Russian military personnel to select those who are ready to switch sides.

Those who have volunteered for the legion have reportedly already begun their training.

In a post by the Ukrainian Defence Ministry on Telegram, they said: “Today the legion's personnel, under the guidance of Ukrainian Armed Forces instructors, studied an NLAW grenade launcher.”

The post came alongside images of the troops being shown how to use such weapons.

It added that the Russians 'expressed a common desire on behalf of all the volunteers to conduct the first battle against the guard dogs of the Putin regime - the Kadyrovites'.

The 'Kadyrovites' mentioned in the statement refers to the fighters lead by Chechen warlord leader Ramzan Kadyrov.

There have been multiple reports of aggrieved soldiers within the Russian military ranks.

Earlier this month a captured Russian soldier called Putin a ‘liar’ and cried over seeing their friends dying during the invasion.

Alexei Zhelenyak made a plea to the Russian people in a press conference.

He said: “Putin, without declaring war, is bombing residents, hospitals, cities of Ukraine.

“People of Russia, don’t look at the zombies. The Ukrainian people are a brave people. They will stop this even without weapons. They are united.

“No matter how much Putin sends his troops here, he will not capture this territory... our commander-in-chief is a liar and a deceiver of all our people.

“He deceived not only us, but the whole of Russia. He simply made fascists out of us.”

Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskyy also claims that Russia has become one of their main suppliers of arms.

He said: “We take trophies and use them to protect Ukraine.”

"Today, Russian troops are, in fact, one of the suppliers of equipment to our army."

And now it seems they’re ready to supply the troops as well.
