Woman shares honest experience using ‘holy grail’ weight loss pill available in UK from today
The new weight loss pill Foundayo has officially arrived in the UK today but its been available for months across the pond.
Fortunately, this allows prospective users to understand the effects, both good and bad, from the drug as weight loss medications continue to thrive across the world.
Ever since celebrities started being open about using GLP-1 drugs such as Ozempic and Mounjaro, it seems as if the whole world has wanted to get their hands on the medication as a way of losing weight, even in instances where it probably isn't needed.
And now Foundayo is promising to be the new kid on the block for those who want to lose weight, and the availability and ease of a pill compared to an injection means it is likely to be popular.
What is Foundayo?
The latest product from Eli Lilly is marketed as something of a 'holy grail' when it comes to weight loss, with pharmacists suggesting that it could be a significant step in tackling obesity.

Danielle Brightman, a qualified Pharmacist and Clinical Director at GLP-1 provider Numan, told LADbible that the rollout is a ‘significant moment’ in how ‘we tackle obesity’.
“While injectable GLP-1 medicines have transformed outcomes for many patients, we know there are also people who would prefer an oral treatment that fits more easily into their daily routine. Orforglipron offers that flexibility, with no fasting requirements or restrictions on food or water,” she said. “For some patients, removing those practical barriers could make it easier to start treatment and remain engaged over the long term.
“The approval is also important from a longer-term weight management perspective. We are increasingly seeing patients who have achieved successful weight loss with injectable medications are looking for ways to maintain their progress without continuing injections. Emerging evidence suggests oral treatments such as orforglipron could provide an additional option for those individuals.
“Greater choice can help improve access and better meet the diverse needs of people living with obesity. However, we must not lose sight of the fact that obesity is a complex, chronic condition. The best and most sustainable outcomes are achieved when treatment is combined with appropriate clinical oversight, behavioural support and personalised care."
Much like when Wegovy was introduced on the NHS, the new Foundayo pill is only available through pharmacies to those who meet certain requirements, and it's important to realise that you should never try to access the drugs illegitimately.
The medication is licensed for those with a body mass index (BMI) of 30 or above, or those with a BMI of between 27 and 30 and at least one weight-related condition.
What was one woman's experience with Foundayo?
After the medication was introduced in America back in April, 77-year-old clinical trialist Maggie Linton had nothing but praise for it.
Her starting weight was 234 pounds and she soon dropped to around the 185 mark, while the medication also had some other added benefits.
She said: "It made a big difference almost immediately. I could see my weight, as well as the cholesterol and everything else, going down all at the same time."
When it came to side effects, Foundayo posed no real issues.
"About the only thing that I experienced when I first started was a little bit of constipation," Linton said. "But I learned how to eat better, move a little bit more, and that kind of went away."
One of the concerns with these weight loss drugs is that they can limit what you're eating entirely and mean you're not getting the necessary nutrients but in Linton's case, it was more about stopping her from eating too much.
She concluded: "That's the one thing that it really does — curtail your need to eat. I found myself just eating smaller portions constantly. I go out to dinner, and because of the size portions, I almost always bring something home to eat the next day.'
What are the known side effects of Foundayo?
Since it has only recently rolled out, it's likely that we will see more side effects reported in the coming weeks as pharmacies in the UK began to prescribe Foundayo.
So far, the side effects seem to be very similar to its sister GLP-1 medications, with nausea and diarrhoea among the most common symptoms that users are expected to experience.
However, more serious side effects can include Thyroid tumours, including thyroid cancer, inflammation of the pancreas (pancreatitis) and severe stomach problems.

Of course, you should always speak to a GP or healthcare professional before starting on a new medication such as Foundayo, and you should steer well clear of any illegitimate duplicates you might hear about or see online.
