UEFA said: "Following the medical emergency involving Denmark's player Christian Eriksen, a crisis meeting has taken place with both teams and match officials and further information will be communicated at 19:45 CET.

"The player has been transferred to the hospital and has been stabilised."

The Danish Football Association added that he is 'awake'.

Eriksen is a talisman for his country and played for Tottenham Hotspur between 2013 and 2020, before moving to Inter Milan last summer.

Football players, fans and clubs across the world have been praying for the 29-year-old:

Spanish midfielder Cesc Fabregas - who is covering the tournament as a pundit for BBC - said: "You realise that it is just a game. We need to enjoy every second and have passion for it but there are things that don't matter anymore. More important is his health.

"Enjoy what you have in life and be blessed. That is it. This is a big shock and a reminder for all of us."
