Trump wins Peace Prize as viewers have major complaint about 'cringey' FIFA World Cup draw

Fans have been outraged while watching the draw for the 2026 FIFA World Cup

Donald Trump has officially won the inaugural 'FIFA Peace Prize' at the World Cup draw held in Washington, DC.

The FIFA World Cup 2026 draw is well and truly underway and viewers can't help but comment on the awkward nature of it all.

Hosted by comedian Kevin Hart and model Heidi Klum, the draw itself hasn't started over half an hour since the event began.

We've had FIFA President Gianni Infantino on stage, encouraging members of the crowd from the USA, Mexico, and Canada to chant their country's names in a moment that was rather uncomfortable for all to watch.

While football fans are all waiting to see their nation's fate in the group stage, they've been treated to the new song for the competition, 'Desire', performed by Robbie Williams and Nicole Scherzinger.

As time has gone on, it seems viewers have become increasingly more agitated, as President Donald Trump was consequently awarded the first-ever 'Peace Prize'.

Infantino spoke about the president's work in striking up peace deals not just between Israel and Palestine, but across the world.

Fans of the sport weren't impressed by any of the big names on stage or Trump's moment, which he described as 'one of the great moments' of his life.

He even claimed: "You are going to seen an event you have never seen before in your life."

Many took to X to share their thoughts on the draw, as one wrote: "This must be the worst football draw of all time, let alone the fifa world cup."

Another added: "If you are going to get someone to host a Fifa World cup draw event... at least get someone who knows football. What a hard watch."

A third commented: "They paid a guy who’s literal job is as a comedian to do the World Cup draw and yet they have the head of FIFA doing the crowd work. Why oh why can’t we just have the draw."

As for Trump's award, one fan posted: "Donald trump winning a jarg version peace prize," with laughing emojis, as someone else penned: "Outrageous that #FIFA awards a 'peace prize' to Donald Trump... #Peace is not a public relations stunt or a political trophy: it is an ethical commitment that FIFA has betrayed today."

A different person claimed it was an 'advertising campaign' for the president, adding: "Turned on the TV for the World Cup draw, and it watching a Donald trump advertising campaign, painting Donald trump as a life saver and a peace maker, this World Cup is going to be shambolic."

The World Cup itself is taking place in North America, with the USA, Canada and Mexico all hosting games, with the competition set to be 'Americanised' in one way or another.

As well as the aforementioned performances, Andrea Bocelli and the Village People took to the stage, as the latter performed 'YMCA'.

While Trump isn't a huge footy fan, he did make waves after appearing on stage at the FIFA Club World Cup last summer as Chelsea celebrated their win against PSG in the final.
