Chelsea star Cole Palmer has spoken out on Donald Trump after the US President decided to stay on stage as the Blues lifted the Club World Cup trophy.
The England international led Enzo Maresca's side to success against Champions League winners PSG in a surprise 3-0 victory yesterday (July 13), scoring twice and assisting new signing Joao Pedro for the third.
Trump has been following the Club World Cup action as it was hosted in the US, and even welcomed the Juventus squad to the White House before rather strangely making them watch on as he delivered a speech about bombing Iran.
Now, Palmer has left fans in stitches over an effortlessly funny quote regarding the world's most powerful man, clearing up the confusion that appeared on his face as the 79-year-old celebrated alongside the Stamford Bridge outfit following their second trophy of the season.

Although his Chelsea teammates were too busy looking happy and celebrating, which is perhaps no surprise given the ridiculous amount of money they will earn from winning, Palmer appeared to say 'what's he doing', no doubt referring to Trump after he declared that he wanted to stay on stage.
Afterwards, the footballer said: "No, I knew he was going to be there, but I didn't know he was going to be on the stand when we lift the trophy.
"So, I was a bit confused."
For those of you who aren't the biggest sports fans, the concept of someone who has contributed absolutely nothing to a win being on stage to lift the trophy is completely unheard of.

And it seems as if Palmer, who plays with no fear on the pitch, wasn't impressed.
A video of the trophy lift also captured Chelsea captain Reece James seemingly asking if the republican leader was going to leave, to which he clearly said no, and I suppose it's not easy to argue with one of the most powerful men in the world.
Fans responded to the moment on X, saying: "You can clearly see Cole Palmer ask his fellow players 'what is he doing??'

"This is EMBARRASSING for Donald Trump."

Another said: "I’m actually dying at this video Chelsea players were waiting for trump to leave but he didn’t."
Palmer was named player of the tournament and was handed another trophy of his own by Trump, shaking the President's hand after he was no doubt impressed by the Chelsea star's right-wing dominance.
It is a shame that the Club World Cup final fell on the same day as the Wimbledon final, or perhaps the President would have wanted to lift the trophy alongside Jannik Sinner as well.
