Floyd Mayweather showed how much he had in one bank account to journalist

Has nobody thought to explain the concept of savings accounts to Floyd Mayweather?

Given the fact that he's considered to be one of the best boxers of all time, you'd imagine that Floyd Mayweather is probably pretty loaded.

However, the 48-year-old once left a journalist speechless after he unveiled just how much cash he has at his disposal.

Back in 2013, the boxer dished the details on his financial situation during an interview with ESPN reporter Tim Keown ahead of his showdown with Saul 'Canelo' Alvarez in Las Vegas.

The interaction saw Keown given unprecedented access to the 50-0 fighter and his rather lavish spending habits, which left the journalist wondering what Mayweather's financial situation looked like.

And just like his frequent photos flaunting wads of cash online, the boxing legend wasn't shy about disclosing how much money he had at the time.

It was during a visit to a Foot Locker store in Grand Rapids, Michigan, that Mayweather decided to slip Keown a piece of paper which contained his bank balance.

"He looks around to make sure nobody is watching before holding out a slip of paper cupped in his right hand," Keown recalled of the moment, adding: "It is a bank slip, and Floyd is watching me watch it as my eyes attempt to focus on the balance. I look at the numbers spread out across the thermal paper."

Keown then counted up the zeros and realised that Mayweather had a whopping $123 million (£92.7 million) sitting in one single account.

"I look up to see Floyd smiling. He begins to laugh. I say something unintelligible about too many numbers. I'm not sure what prompted this," he continued, adding: "I look down one more time to make sure I got it right. And yes, it's right there, 11 numbers long.

"There is more than $123 million in Floyd Mayweather Jr.'s bank account."

This amount of money is of course incomprehensible to most of us but likely doesn't seem too out of the ordinary to Mayweather, considering that he is estimated to have a net worth in the region of $500 million (£376 million).

What's more shocking is the fact that the 48-year-old was keeping all his cash in one account (Medios y Media/Getty Images)

He's also believed to have earned around $1.1 billion (£829 million) across his career, with wins against Manny Pacquiao and Conor McGregor bringing in $250 million and $300 million, respectively.

The boxer also confirmed to the journalist that he kept all his money in the same place.

"One account, baby," he added to Keown.

This confession seems more outlandish than any excessive spending or eye-watering net worth estimations, considering that you'd imagine a boxer of his status to have access to the best accountants money can buy.

However, I guess monthly interest payments don't mean much when you're already worth hundreds of millions.
