There's a couple things about yourself that you have no control over, no matter how hard you try, and this cage fighter might be cursed by one of these - his name.

Your name and your genetics are things that you have to live with for your entire life, unless you're an eccentric celebrity, of course.

Or, if you're a cage fighter that shares a name with one of the biggest female pop stars of our time. Too specific?

Well, a 21-year-old MMA fighter is sick of being laughed at for his name, and has set out to change it.

The Brit was born on 27 May 2003, and is named Taylor Swift.

Sharing absolutely nothing in common with the 'Shake it Off' singer though, he's getting tired of being teased for his birth name.

To be fair, how were his parents meant to know that a teenage popstar was to emerge across the pond just three years later?

I guess you could say that he has some 'Bad Blood' towards the artist, though he's just a few months from turning '22'.

But now, it looks like the amateur fighter has had a change of heart and thinks that the link with the 35-year-old music sensation could be his ticket to achieve his 'Wildest Dreams' of making it professional.

With a decent record of 3-1-0 so far in his career, it makes for an even better showing as Swift only picked up the sport at the end of 2022.

The 6ft lightweight fighter from Cheltenham is an electrical apprentice by day, and revealed to The Sun: “Even at weigh-ins, people start laughing.

"The worst part is when the announcer is reading out the names before a fight.

“People ask if I’m serious when I tell them my name. It gets a laugh when I’m going through airport security and on the door at clubs.”

With aspirational goals to make it big, Swift is leaning into his name giving people a bit of a chuckle, building up a following on Instagram of over 4,800, some of which include Swifties who had accidentally come across his account.

Speaking about his famous name, he admitted: “The name will help. A big part of the sport is about social media and sales,” adding that 'everything helps' as making it professional in the sport is easier said than done."

A rap and rock fan when it comes to choice of tunes, the most shocking part here is what he confessed about Swift's music: “I don’t think I could even name three of her songs.”

I wouldn't call myself a Swiftie but surely most people could name three Taylor Swift songs? No? Might just be me then.
