Starbucks Employee Checks Girl Is Safe By Writing Message On Drinks Lid

The girl had been approached by a man, and the barista clearly wanted to make sure she was OK

A mum from Texas has praised the quick thinking of a Starbucks barista after they gave her daughter a drink with a message written onto it asking about whether she felt safe with a man who was talking to her.

The mum, whose name we’re going to leave out of this particular account, shared on Facebook that her daughter, who is high-school aged, went into the Starbucks coffee shop on Staples Street and S. Padre Island Drive in Corpus Christi when she was approached by a man.

She didn't know the man, but he still approached her anyway.

Apparently, she was just sitting doing some school work when the man came up to her, and staff at the shop intervened on the down-low in order to check that she was doing OK and could cope with it all.

In her Facebook post, the girl’s mother wrote: "She was sitting at her table alone studying and this man came by and noticed what she was studying and wanted to talk to her about it.

"He, I think, just kind of became really loud and animated about it.”

So, after witnessing that, the staff went off and came back to her with ‘an extra hot chocolate that someone forgot to pick up’ so that they could get a message to the young girl.

The note read: "Are you okay? Do you want us to intervene? If you do, take the lid off the cup."

The message the Starbucks barista left on the cup.

Since it was shared, the post has been liked more than 56,000 times on social media, with many praising the quick-thinking of the coffee shop staff.

The girl’s mother concluded: "How grateful I am for people who look out for other people!"

Luckily, this tale has a happy ending.

In the end, it turned out that the girl did actually feel safe in the situation, so kept the lid on the drink.

It’s always nice to know that someone is watching though, and Today reports the man left her alone when he realised she was communicating with the staff.

Her mum was clearly grateful that they checked in and asked if she was OK, and everything turned out for the best in the end.

It just goes to show, it's always worth checking up on someone in these situations.

The chances are that they'll be absolutely fine, but on the occasion that they're not, they - and those who care for them - will be glad that someone took the time.

This mum was certainly thankful to the Starbucks staff.
