The new Apple iOS 18 update will allow iPhone users to finally get an Android feature they have been waiting for.

The debate of Android vs Apple has been a heated one since the two brands were created.

Some argue that Apple’s flawless design makes it the better of the two, but others believe that Android phones have a better camera quality and more unique features.

Well, there’s always been one small thing that Android phones have had, that iPhones have been missing the whole time, but that’s about to change.

Customisable features have always been a huge hit with users, and it looks as though we’re about to get a whole lot more of them.

Apple revealed that one of its ‘biggest’ updates yet will finally allow apps and widgets to be moved wherever the user wants on the screen.

That’s right - no more columns, rows, or more of a ‘fixed’ look.

The new feature will mean that icons can be placed on the screen freely, meaning you can 'give each page of your Home Screen a unique layout that’s most helpful for you'.

You can also put icons in Dark mode with the new update, or even tint them with a colour to create your own personal design.

After the news of the update was released, Android users were quick to take to social media to share their thoughts.

One wrote: "Welcome to 2015, I guess."

While another joked: "Congratulations to Apple for being 10 years behind android."

However, it seems Apple users were more than happy with the iOS 18 features, with one writing: "The new iOS 18 Beta update is the best thing to happen to @apple."

Apart from finally being able to get on the level of Android users, one of the most exciting new features of iOS 18 is the introduction of Apple Intelligence.

It appears to be the company's response to the current AI hype, and is described as a ‘personal intelligence system’.

At the launch of the ground-breaking feature, Apple's chief executive Tim Cook said: “It can access that information in a completely private and secure way to help users do the things that matter most to them.

“This is AI as only Apple can deliver it, and we can’t wait for users to experience what it can do.”

There is a slight catch however, as Apple Intelligence will be available in beta to the newer and premium versions of the iPhone, including the iPhone 15 and 15 Pro Max.

As well as these creations, Apple announced that there will be some changes within iMessage. These will include being able to underline words, schedule messages to send later, and send satellite messages, meaning you do not need to be within signal.

The iOS 18 update is set to be released later this year.
