After months of anticipation, the Nintendo Switch 2 is almost here, as preorders will open on Tuesday, April 8.

The biggest Nintendo launch in almost a decade, the tech giant has finally revealed what the gadget will look like (and most importantly, cost), and people can’t wait.

The new console comes with a bigger 1080p screen (without compromising its compact size), and can connect to the TV for up to 4K resolution when playing. The console comes with magnetic Joy-Con 2 controllers that snap on and off the device and what's even cooler is that they can even be used as a mouse in certain compatible games.

Other impressive features include built-in GameChat, which enables you to chat to mates whilst playing. You can even purchase the Nintendo Switch 2 camera add-on for an even more interactive gaming experience.

What's more, you can play the new console on the move, as it can be propped up into tabletop mode, all thanks to its large stand.

So, what games are compatible with the new Nintendo Switch 2? To celebrate the launch, Nintendo has unveiled new games, the most popular of course being Mario Kart World. The legendary franchise has undergone a refresh this year and is sure to please fans with new graphics, character tweaks, and different race tracks.

Donkey Kong Bananza and Kirby Air Riders are also confirmed to return this year. If you're already panicking about playing your favourite titles on the new console, Nintendo has already confirmed that some compatible Switch games will work on Switch 2.

When is the Nintendo Switch 2 available to pre-order?

The Nintendo Switch 2 will launch in the UK on Thursday, June 5. You can now preorder the new gaming console via the official Nintendo website, Amazon UK, and Argos. You can find out how to preorder below.

How much will the Nintendo Switch 2 cost?

The Nintendo Switch 2 will cost £395.99 in the UK on the official Nintendo website, that’s almost £90 more than the Nintendo Switch OLED. To make the most of your money, you can also purchase a Switch 2 bundle with Mario Kart World included for £429.99.

You can also preorder the gaming console on Amazon UK, but only if you do one thing. In order to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2 bundle, you must be invited to purchase. You can find the invitation button on the right-hand side of the product page here.

If invited to purchase, you will receive an email with a shopping link to preorder that's only valid for 22 hours. Not all requests will be granted, so you might need to get your mates involved, too.

Visit Amazon now to preorder the Nintendo Switch 2.
