Horror moment acrobat falls to their death in front of terrified onlookers at show

A video captured the shocking moment Chinese acrobat, Sun Moumou, plummeted 10m to her death during a performance with her husband.

Audiences have been left horrified after an acrobatic performer plunged to her death before their eyes.

A video captured the shocking moment when Chinese acrobat, Sun Moumou, plummeted 10m while performing with her husband, Zhang Moumou, who failed to catch her, as per 7News.

The couple performed in the Anhui province village of Hougao over the weekend when the tragedy unfolded.

The clip shows Sun and Zhang being hoisted up in the air, with Sun standing on her husband’s feet before clinging onto his neck, trying to find her grip.

However, in the next few seconds, the performer loses her grip as she cannot grab onto her husband's legs.

As the performer falls, the crowd screams in horror.

Sun was immediately rushed to hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

The couple were reportedly fighting before the show, and Sun refused to wear a safety line, according to the New York Post.

However, while speaking to Yangzi Evening News, Zhang denied he had fought with his wife, telling the outlet: “We were always happy together. There was no fight.”

He added: “As I am in the middle of the process of dealing with all of this, I can’t disclose any specific details at this time.”

The outlet also reported that local authorities would launch an in-depth investigation into the accident.

Similarly, in 2017, an acrobat fell from 100ft at a music festival in Spain.

Pedro Aunion Monroy was performing at the Mad Cool Festival in Madrid when tragedy struck.

However, bizarrely after the incident, the festival organiser didn’t cancel the event as Green Day took the stage, the Mirror reported.

After their performance, Green Day issued a statement explaining they didn’t know Monroy had died before their set.

They tweeted: "We just got off stage at Mad Cool Festival to disturbing news. A very brave artist named Pedro lost his life tonight in a tragic accident."

They added: "Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends."

Organisers of Mad Cool also released a statement informing the public they kept the show going for ‘security reasons’.

It read: "Mad Cool Festival regrets the terrible accident that an acrobat suffered during the second day of the festival.

"For security reasons, the festival decided to continue with the programme.

"We send our most sincere condolences to his family. Tomorrow, Saturday 8th, during the festival we will pay tribute to the artist."
