We might be less than a quarter of the way through it, but 2023 is quickly turning out to be the year of Pedro Pascal. As it so happens, it turns out that a year that took place a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away was also the year of Pedro Pascal.

The man truly is timeless.

Before going any further, it’s worth stressing that the below has MAJOR spoilers for the first two seasons of The Mandalorian. Not to mention, this story overlaps considerably with The Book of Boba Fett so it’s definitely advisable to have watched that as well!

If you’re already caught up, they probably only whet your appetite for even more planet-hopping bounty hunting. Season three of Star Wars: The Mandalorian is streaming exclusively on Disney+ from Wednesday, March 1, so here is everything you need to know.

A recap

The best thing about the Star Wars Universe is that there is so much there to unravel. From the original Skywalker trilogy that started it all to the recent Obi-Wan series and the tales of lesser-known characters like Cassian Andor, there is always another story worth telling.

One of the most unique characters to have been created in recent times is Din Djarin, better known as The Mandalorian (or “Mando” by friends). Played by the aforementioned Pascal in this amazing series created and directed by the legendary Jon Favreau, we’re first introduced to him as he is being sent on a mysterious mission to capture an unknown target alive.

That target happened to be one of the cutest little creatures to have ever been put on screen, and while he was known all over as “Baby Yoda” at first, his name is actually Grogu. As fans of the series will likely agree, anything bad ever happening to this Little Green Guy would be enough to send the entire planet (ours that is) into a frenzy.

The first season followed Grogu and Mando’s relationship slowly starting to form, but it was in season two that we finally found out what made his quarry so valuable. It turned out that Grogu’s blood contained high midi-chlorian levels, meaning he had the potential to be a powerful user of The Force.

A scientist, at the behest of The Empire, was trying to extract this blood and inject it into other people. These experiments didn’t exactly turn out too great, but it made Grogu a highly valuable being for both sides of the war.

Thankfully, Grogu was eventually taken under the x-wing of one Luke Skywalker (yes, THE Luke Skywalker). It meant that Mando had to hand him over to Luke and make every single viewer well up with an gut-wrenchingly emotional farewell, but thankfully the duo have come back together for season three of The Mandalorian.

A lot has changed though since the last time we saw the two of them together. Luke trained Grogu in the way of a Jedi and offered him a choice; stay down this path or return to his former companion to better understand the way of the Mandalor.

Thankfully for fans of this series, he chose the latter. It’s yet to be seen what this means for Grogu, but this is what makes season three such an exciting prospect as they are reunited with no clan to return to.

While we first met Mando as a lone bounty hunter, him and Grogu have become inseparable (not that anyone would want to separate this duo). We return to their journey at a time when the New Republic struggles to lead the galaxy away from its dark history.

You can expect even more characters (some new, some very familiar) and moments to remember, and a journey of adventure and redemption you won’t forget.

Subscribe to Disney+ now as Disney+ is the only place that you’ll be able to watch the unmissable new third season of The Mandalorian. Find out more or sign up to Disney+ here.
