Channel 4 is launching a reboot of the classic 90s show Changing Rooms.

Remember that? The basic premise was that two couples would swap houses, with each pair decorating one room in the others' home - generally resulting in one (or both) of said couple's having a breakdown. It was glorious, trashy television.

But while Carol Smillie led the renovations series first time around, Big Brother legend Davina McCall will be taking over the reins for its comeback.

She will, however, be joined by the flamboyant Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen, who was part of the original line-up.

But so far, there's no mention of the cheeky chappy Handy Andy, so it's not certain whether the talkative cockney will be back as well.

There's been no news either on if designer Graham Wynne, Linda Barker or Anna Ryder Richardson will be making an appearance.

Let's hope it's less traumatic than the original series, right?

Speaking about the exciting news, Davina said she couldn't wait to get started with the series.

The 52-year-old said: "I'm so excited to be presenting Changing Rooms. It's the perfect time to bring it back. Everyone is going DIY and decor-mad!

"I can't wait to see all the amazing transformations. I might even get stuck in myself if I'm allowed to be let loose with a paint brush."

In a statement to press, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen said it wasn't quite as easy a decision for him to make and he needed a little persuading.

He said: "It's taken quite a lot of coaxing to get me under the Changing Rooms banner once more, but nothing like as much coaxing as it's going to take for me to squeeze those leather trousers back on."

Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen is returning for the reboot.

But we're not the only ones eager to see what decorating disasters lie ahead, fans of the show have been waiting for this moment for what seems like a lifetime.

Writing on Twitter, one user said: "Brace yourselves for a national shortage of velvet drapes and gold spray paint (used to decorate MDF cherubs, obvs).

"I am so happy Changing Rooms is coming back, honestly. I know the floating shelves/teapot disaster is the god tier moment, but Laurence painting a floor black and it never drying lives rent free in my head."

Another joked: "Lock up your hot glue guns & HIDE ALL MDF. Changing Rooms is coming back."

Proposing another classic piece of television make a grand return, a third said: "Oh my life. Changing Rooms is back! Bring back Ground Force too 2020, all will *nearly* be forgiven.

"*Okay, nothing will be forgiven but I'll be suitably distracted."
