Anyone who works in Hollywood long enough is sure to pick up a few weird stories along the way, but this tale from Ethan Suplee about teaching Leo DiCaprio how to snort coke out of someone's bum might just take the prize for the oddest workplace anecdote we've ever heard.

The veteran actor and former My Name Is Earl star recently stopped by for an interview with Michael Rosenbaum on his podcast Inside For You, during which he opened up about his history of substance abuse and the self-image issues that have dogged his career.

But although the actor has been clean for nearly two decades now, his past experiences with drugs became highly sought-after on the set of Wolf of Wall Street, where he was drafted in by members of the crew to help teach them the mechanics of blowing cocaine up a butthole.

Speaking about his incredible body transformation (which the actor claims has seen him put on and lose over 1000lbs during his lifetime) and learning to love himself, Suplee said this about his time working on Wolf of Wall Street, and explained how this bizarre scenario came to pass.

Ethan Suplee: "[Working on the movie] was awesome. It was a lot of fun.

"The only funny weird story was, we were filming two different things and me and the rest of the guys, the brokers, were kind of off on a break and then I got a call like, 'You're needed on that closed set.' Like, nobody's allowed on this set.

"I was like, 'I'm needed? What am I needed for?'

"And they were like, 'You just have to go in there,' and I went in and somebody was like, 'We can't figure out how to do cocaine up an a**hole. Can you help us? We heard you could help us with this.'

"I was like, 'I'll do my best!'"

After Suplee explained the gory details, Rosenbaum replied: "So you helped them!"

Suplee replied: "I helped them, but I'm just saying, I was the guy called. I was the guy on set, like, 'Who can help us? Ethan knows.'"

Rosenbaum replied: "That's when you should have known, 'I gotta get my s*** together.' That's rock bottom."

Here, Suplee reflected: "I'd been sober at this point for almost ten years but some of the people had known me prior and were like, 'He knows how to do this, get him.'"

Asking a recovering addict how to snort cocaine may not seem like a wise course of action, but Suplee saw the humour in the situation and took it in his stride.

Besides, given the subject matter, it seems unlikely that he would sign on to a film like The Wolf Of Wall Street without knowing what he was getting involved in.

After getting sober and absolutely jacked during lockdown, Suplee claims to have a new lease on life these days, explaining that he's focused on maintaining a positive mental and physical outlook.

So here's to you Ethan. Keep living your best life.
