Ant And Dec Win Best Presenter Award For 17th Time

Ant and Dec won the Best Presenter award at tonight's National Television Awards. Meaning they've been nominated and won for the past 17 years. Bloody hell, fellas, give someone else a chance.

The presenting duo were up against Holly Willoughby, Phillip Schofield and Bradley Walsh.

The award may come as little surprise given that the pair have scooped the gong for the Best Presenter since 2001 (there was no NTA Awards in 2009). They must have a specific cabinet just for this particular award by now.

There's also the fact that it was reported that fans actually managed to break the NTA website when the Geordie duo took to Twitter to ask for support; I mean that should have been a pretty big clue that they were going to walk away with the win.

In a tweet, they wrote: "Less than 24 hours to vote for all your favourites at the @OfficialNTAs. Vote closes at noon tomorrow." And linked to the site, which promptly crashed shortly after, leaving some frustrated fans unable to cast their vote.

But clearly enough people were able to vote anyway. The pair were emotional as they collected the award, with Ant, who has had much publicised personal problems over the past year, said he was shaken when he picked up the gong.

The pair were also up for Best Challenge Show for I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here! against Love Island, The Great British Bake Off and Masterchef.

And nominated for Best Talent Show for The X Factor and Britain's Got Talent, as well as the, newly renamed, award for the Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award with Ant and Dec's Saturday Night Takeaway.

Winning the award is bound to be good news for Ant, who has had a rough few months. The NTAs were the first red carpet event he's appeared at since he checked into rehab for an addiction to prescription painkillers last summer.

Since leaving rehab, he made a very welcome return to our screens on this year's I'm A Celebrity...Get Me Out Of Here! because, let's be honest, us Brits would not be happy with anyone else presenting that show.

However, there was more heart-ache in store and just last month, Ant announced that he was separating from his wife of 11 years, Lisa Armstrong.
