An urgent 'do not eat' warning has been put out over a sweet treat from Aldi, which could be fatal if eaten by the wrong person.

The budget supermarket's Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um's are being recalled by the Food Standards Agency (FSA) over fears they may contain peanuts, despite not having them listed as a possible allergy on the packaging.

It goes without saying that this poses a dangerous risk to anyone who may have a peanut allergy, and Aldi customers are being urged not to eat the sweet treat over concerns of contamination.

The warning refers to all the 121g size packets of the chocolate product, regardless of the date of them, with Aldi promising a full refund for anyone who takes the Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um's back to the store where they were purchased.

"As a precautionary measure, Aldi is recalling Dairyfine Crispy Choc Um’s because the product may contain peanuts. This means the product is a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy to peanuts," the FSA said.

"If you have bought the above product and have an allergy to peanuts do not eat it. Instead return it to the store from where it was bought for a full refund. For further details, please contact ALDI customer services on 0800 042 0800."

Meanwhile, Lidl has been forced to recall a snack product over concerns it could contain shards of glass, with customers being urged to return the product to stores for a full refund, regardless of whether or not you have a receipt, or to simply chuck it in the bin. Under no circumstances should customers continue to eat the product over fears of serious injuries.

In this instance, it's the 125g packs of Lidl Simply Roasted and Salted Cashews which are affected, with a best before date of June 2026.

A Lidl spokesperson said: "No other Simply products in Lidl GB stores are affected by this recall. Lidl GB is recalling the above-mentioned product due to potential presence of glass foreign bodies which may present a choking hazard.

"If you have bought the above product we advise you not to eat it. Customers are asked to return this product to the nearest store where a full refund will be given.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused and thank you for your cooperation. For further information, contact Customer Care on [email protected] or 0203 9665566."
