David Cameron spotted at Jeremy Clarkson’s pub that has strict politician ban

David Cameron has been spotted drinking at Jeremy Clarkson's pub, despite strict rules banning certain politicians from the premises.

Clarkson has a long list of people who are barred from his pub The Farmer's Dog, including two potentially quite surprising individuals - his two former co-presenters on Top Gear.

However the largest group of people barred from the pub by is all Labour MPs, though Clarkson has clarified on social media that this is with one exception - Markus Campbell-Savours of Penrith and Solway, who had the whip removed after voting against Labour government plans to impose inheritance tax on farmers.

"To be clear, I have banned all Labour MPs from my pub, except one: Markus Campbell Savours," Clarkson wrote on social media, adding: "He’s welcome any time. And not just because the Labour Party has now sacked him."

Former Prime Minister David Cameron faces no such issues at the pub however, and went to attend the Hawkstone Harvest Festival in the Cotswolds.

This was being filmed for the upcoming season of Clarkson's Farm, which follows the former Top Gear presenter's journey in running his farm, Diddly Squat.

Cameron, 59, was prime minister between 2010 and 2016, stepping down after the Brexit referendum saw voters choosing to leave the European Union, and has previously praised Clarkson's public advocacy for UK farmers.

"Jeremy has done an amazing job at highlighting some of the issues in the countryside," Cameron told The Sun. "He’s done more for farming than anyone else I can think of in recent years."

It's not the first time that Clarkson and Cameron have crossed paths either, with Cameron even speaking up for Clarkson when he was suspended from the BBC after reports that he had allegedly punched a producer on the show, Time reports.

Cameron spoke out for Clarkson, saying it was 'because he is such a talent and he amuses and entertains so many people, including my children, who’d be heartbroken if Top Gear was taken off air, I hope this can be sorted out, because it’s a great programme and he’s a great talent.'

Clarkson also spoke about having a prostate cancer scare, which Cameron has also experienced, with Clarkson saying that he had been diagnosed with an 'aggressive' form of the disease, but that luckily it had been caught early on.

"I was talking to David [Cameron] about it earlier this morning," said Clarkson. "He said the amount of people that come up to him is mostly in public conveniences and say, 'If you hadn’t owned up to it, I wouldn’t have got checked', and they wouldn’t have found it.

"So now there’s a group of us, [restaurant critic] Giles Coren, David, me, one or two other people, and we meet for lunch every so often."

Fellow former Prime Minister Keir Starmer does not get such a warm reception from Clarkson however, with Clarkson previously telling Times Radio: "He’s banned. Actually, he’s the first person to be banned. He’s actually on the board in the hall; he’s banned."

Over 400 Labour MPs are barred from the pub, but it's not just politicians and his former co-presenters.

One customer ended up being barred after she complained that she could not get Tabasco sauce in her Bloody Mary.

Part of Clarkson's approach at his pub is to try and ensure that as much as possible of what is served there is produced entirely in the UK. So that means no coffee, though tea has successfully been grown in the UK.
