Houses of Parliament are set to see an armed police presence this weekend, and the reason has been revealed in a statement.
London’s political location is known for its importance in the nation, but seeing police with weapons isn’t exactly a common sight.
However, there’s a very real situation that requires this to happen, but it might not be what you expect.
Thankfully, it’s not a criminal problem or a national security breach.

Instead, it’s down to entertainment purposes.
According to a UK Parliament spokesman, actors may be seen dressed as armed police while acting out simulated emergencies at the Houses of Parliament.
Production company Bad Wolf, which is behind the likes of Doctor Who, His Dark Materials and Industry, will be filming around the River Thames on 22 August and 23 August respectively.

So, you’ll get to see the actors, crew and more.
A UK Parliament spokesperson said: “A licensed film production is taking place on and around parts of the parliamentary estate over the weekend.
“Members of the public may see actors portraying armed police officers, specialist vehicles and simulated incidents as part of the filming.
“These activities are part of a controlled and authorised production, and there is no incident or emergency on the parliamentary estate.”
As for what’s being filmed, according to reports, Bad Wolf is working on a Netflix series called The Lords’ Day, which tells the tale of a siege which originated in Michael Dobbs’s novel of the same name at the State Opening of Parliament.
Dobbs wrote the novel from which House of Cards is adapted from, and is actually a member of the House of Lords himself.

Per Netflix, the six-part series is set to star Damson Idris, as it explains: “The House of Lords is on lockdown, and the threat is inside the building.”
Its synopsis is as follows: “The government of the United Kingdom has been taken hostage, and Parliament is now enemy territory. Fortunately, the hostage takers aren’t alone. Also prowling the august halls is ex-spy Harry Jones, played by Damson Idris (F1, Snowfall, Outside the Wire). Harry is the perfect man to pull the UK government back from the brink. Or he would be, if he wasn’t also a convicted traitor.”
Okay, so that sounds like the cup of tea of many.
The Lords’ Day will join other upcoming original UK dramas on the streaming platform, such as a new Harlan Coben adaptation of The Woods, which stars Michelle Keegan and Tom Bateman.
Other adaptations include The Whisper Man, which is taken from Alex North’s bestselling novel that stars Robert De Niro, Michelle Monaghan, and Adam Scott.
The Last House is another one in which Greta Lee and Wagner Moura play parents that are fighting against a mysterious threat.
Then there’s the coming-of-age dramedy Don’t Say Good Luck, which stars Melanie Lynskey and Sunny Sandler as a mother and daughter duo.
Keep your eyes peeled.
