On 7 March, Ian Huntley died in hospital after being attacked in prison on 26 March.

His death was met by immediate demands from the public that he should not be granted a funeral and his daughter, Samantha Bryan, agreed.

The 27-year-old had nothing to do with the Soham killer and previously said his ashes should be flushed down the toilet.

And now she’s said she was left ‘disgusted’ over a question from the police following his death.

Huntley pursued a relationship with her mum, Katie, when she was just 15. While he was 23, Katie became pregnant with Samantha when she was 16 years old.

The pair have said their thoughts are instead with the families of the murderer’s victims, 10-year-olds Holly and Jessica.

Huntley was serving a life sentence for the 2002 murders of the schoolgirls who he killed after they had left a family barbecue to buy sweets in Soham, Cambridgeshire, on 4 August.

The ex-school caretaker dumped their bodies in a ditch 10 miles away and they were not found for 13 days, all while he gave interviews in the press about their disappearance.

Huntley denied murdering Holly and Jessica but was convicted after a trial in 2003.

Ten days after his death, Samantha claimed she met with two police officers who asked if she wanted to be involved with his funeral.

“They asked if I wanted to take on the responsibility, purely because I am his biological daughter,” she claimed to The Sun.

“They mentioned if I did there would be quite a bill involved. I said ‘no’. He does not deserve the dignity of a funeral after what he did. I don’t want any involvement.”

Samantha explained she had ‘nothing to do with him in life’ and doesn’t want to in death.

“I don’t want to pay for any funeral, and I wouldn’t want to go to a funeral for him,” she added.

Samantha was apparently told she could be liable if the costs exceeded £3,000 and her mum says the question was the ‘final indignity’ of him being her biological dad.

“Even in death, he is a blight on her life,” Katie added.

The pair said his ashes should be dumped at sea like Ian Brady’s.

However, it has been reported that Huntley will not be granted funeral service as his family are said to have declined a government-funded one out of respect for the families of his victims.

HMP Frankland inmate Anthony Russell has been charged with his murder and the inquest begins next month.
