Tom Hardy returns with all-star cast in MobLand season two trailer months after firing controversy
The trailer for MobLand’s second season features Tom Hardy’s return to the role in what was almost his last season of the show as it was reported that after a contentious second season of production Hardy had been fired.
A bombshell report in May from Matthew Beloni’s Puck News claimed that, after numerous showdowns with producers on the set of season two of MobLand, Paramount+ had made the decision to fire Hardy ahead of the greenlit season three.
The report claimed Hardy was ‘late to work’ frequently and had frustration that the show which was initially built around his stardom was increasingly becoming an ensemble featuring his celebrity co-stars Helen Mirren and Pierce Brosnan.
Mirren however came out in support of the actor, seemingly dispelling rumours of an on-set feud, and it was announced in late June that he would indeed be returning for season three of the show.

Hardy, producer Jez Butterworth who reportedly issued a ‘him or me’ ultimatum about the actor and series executive producer David Glasser met in London earlier this year and came to an agreement to bring the actor back.
Trailer drops for season two of MobLand and features Hardy front and centre
Any worries that Hardy might not be as front and central in season two have been dispelled by the trailer for the upcoming instalment of the show.
As was reported in his unhappiness however it is clearly becoming even more of an ensemble show as it also heavily features Brosnan and Mirren in the trailer.
The second season will see the Harrigan family and their fixer Harry trying to show a ‘unified front’ amid rivals from all sides looking to bring them down, with Paddy Considine’s Kevin Harrigan calling for the death of his father, Pierce Brosnan’s Conrad.
Johnny Flynn is the big addition to the cast of season two, with the folk musician and Lovesick actor having recently been cast in the Harry Potter HBO TV show as Lucius Malfoy.
Ophelia Lovibond has also joined the cast, with Joanne Froggatt, Lara Pulver, Anson Boon, and Mandeep Dhillon returning.

In the report from Puck News it was reported that Hardy’s firing stemmed from a showdown with showrunner Jez Butterworth where Butterworth told the studio if the British actor returned, he would quit.
In the article Beloni said: “Hardy was apparently late to set a bunch, constantly asked to give notes on scripts, attempted to change dialogue, and expressed his displeasure that a series initially built around him was increasingly becoming an ensemble showcase for Helen Mirren, Pierce Brosnan, and other co-stars.”
Hardy’s meeting with Butterworth and Glasser reportedly saw them agree he should return because the character dynamics would be very difficult to replace, putting the show ahead of their personal differences.
Deadline reported Hardy’s return and claimed sources suggested that Guy Ritchie, an executive producer on the show and longtime collaborator with Hardy, had built bridges between the two camps to repair their relationship and help save the show.
