A lad has redefined the boundaries of a spontaneous trip after popping over to Ibiza for a night out.

What an age we live in. There was a time, quite possibly within living memory, when a journey from the UK to Ibiza would have been measured in days.

Now, one man has proven it's possible to pop over to the Mediterranean Island for a night out. And he even made it back in time for work the next day.

Ben Matthew Saunders decided to go to Ibiza just for one night.

Ben Matthew Saunders, 22, was disappointed when work commitments meant that he couldn't join his friends on a trip to Ibiza.

But the lad, from Hampshire, was not fazed and instead spontaneously spent £400 to join his mates for one night out.

He told MailOnline: "I know a lot of people use work as an excuse for not going on nights out or celebrating things but I didn't want to do that. I felt bad that I couldn't go.

"I did have work on the day that I flew, as well as the day after, but I wanted to see if I could head out there for one night.

"Doing it gave me an adrenaline rush. My friend was really happy that I spared the time to go."

On Monday (10 July), Ben finished a meeting at work at 2pm at the National Theatre in London before catching his flight from Stansted Airport at 5pm.

He landed on the White Island at 8.40pm, just in time to get ready to go out.

Ben managed to make it back in time for work the next day.

Ben dropped his bag at his friend's hotel in San Antonio and set out with his pals to have a good time. The next day he caught a bus back to Ibiza Airport at 7am, and was back in London Gatwick at 11.50am.

The flights set Ben back a total of £290.

A train ride to Brighton later and he arrived in time for his first meeting at 1pm.

He said: "When I told my friends I was going to come, they didn't believe me or know how I was even going to do it.

"It was a very freeing experience for me as well - it was a great night out."

Ben has zero regrets about his adventure, though he admits it was 'quite expensive for a night out'.

He said: "If I planned it in advance I could have got cheaper flights but it was on a whim. I have a lot of flexibility in my life and I can choose to do things like this.

"I would encourage anyone else to go for a night out in Ibiza if they can.

"I hope I’ve proved this is possible."
