Dad of man who vanished on night out 12 years ago shares what he thinks really happened to him

Allan Bryant hasn't been seen since he left a nightclub in Scotland in the early hours on 3 November, 2013

The father of a man who vanished on a night out more than a decade ago has shared his chilling theory about what really happened to him.

Allan Bryant's devastated dad told how his son's disappearance in November 2013 has 'destroyed his family' and their continuing search for answers has brought their lives to a standstill.

"Our lives have stopped until we find out what's happened to Allan," Allan Snr said.

12 years ago, the 23-year-old lad went out for the night with his friends in the town of Glenrothes in Fife, Scotland.

The Celtic fan walked to an engagement party at Leslie Golf Club with his mates on the evening of 2 November, 2013. He and his pals then left the venue around midnight before heading onto Styx nightclub in a minibus.

According to Police Scotland, he exited the nightclub - which was just one mile away from his home - at 2.02am in the early hours of the following morning.

Allan has not been seen or heard from since.

'I know the worst has happened to him'

Despite intensive investigative efforts, extensive searches and public appeals, the mystery surrounding what happened to Allan remains unsolved 12 years on.

Cops say that all the evidence they have obtained over the last decade or so includes 'nothing to suggest criminality' and that the probe is still a missing person inquiry.

However, Allan Snr has revealed that he suspects that his young son was murdered - explaining that he has 'no doubt' that the 23-year-old attended a house party after leaving the nightclub.

He alleged that 'something happened to Allan' at the bash, telling Sky News: "And they've disposed of him. He's been murdered there.

"I know the worst has happened to him. I want to find my son and I want to bring him back home. And the people who are responsible, I want them to face justice."

Allan - who would now be 35 years old - had spoken to his loved ones about going to college and was not suicidal, his devastated dad said.

'I'm never going to give up on my son'

The father-of-three strongly believes that if his son had simply got lost on the one mile walk home from Styx, or possibly became disorientated somehow, a body would have been found by this point.

Searches of ponds, woodland, quarries, wells and the River Leven have been carried out, while Allan's family also hired a pilot to fly over the area to take aerial photographs - but each effort yielded no clues.

Allan Snr says he has spent 'countless hours' combing through the high-definition images taken from the Cessna plane, while also 'trying everything possible' to find a lead.

"Back then there was only a few houses with CCTV, [camera-equipped] doorbells weren't a thing, nor were dash cams," he continued.

"He's my son. And I know for a fact if it was me, Allan wouldn't give up on me. I'm never going to give up on my son."

Allan's mother, Marie Degan, 55, and his sisters, Amy, 29, and Sophie, 21, also drive a car which is adorned with photos of the missing man and details of his disappearance.

Speaking of the hole Allan has left in their lives, Allan Snr said: "All you think about is Allan first thing in the morning. Even at night-time you're having dreams about him or the information you've got.

"He was always taking the mick out of his mates and playing pranks on them and playing pranks on his two sisters. Everybody liked him, he was a good laugh. A lot of his friends miss him."

Calling on anyone with information about Allan's disappearance to come forward, the dad added: "Just end this nightmare for our family, so we can put Allan to rest and try and move on with our lives."

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "Allan Bryant remains a missing person and officers continue to make enquiries to trace him."
